Ngorlung Ralung FC Defeats Ledum FC 3-0 to Win 1st Edition of Tapor Gao Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament 2024"

Ruksin, October 11: The final match of the 1st edition of the Tapor Gao Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament (TGMFT) 2024 concluded yesterday at Ruksin Playground, with Ledum FC facing Ngorlung FC. The tournament was held in memory of the late Tapor Gao, father of Shri Tapir Gao, MP of Arunachal Eastern Parliament.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Tapi Darang, MLA of 38th East Pasighat, as the chief guest, with Shri Tayi Taggu, Deputy Commissioner of East Siang, as the guest of honor. Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal, IPS, SP of Pasighat, attended as a special guest, along with 37th West Pasighat MLA Shri Ninong Ering, 40th Dambuk MLA Shri Punyo Apum, ADC Ruksin Shri Tamat Gamoh, East Siang District Olympic President, ZPMs, and Gaon Buras.
Shri Tapir Gao, the sponsor of the tournament, expressed that the main objective of the event was to engage youth in sports to combat drug and alcohol abuse. He also announced that the next edition would include a girls' and women’s tournament at the same venue.
Shri Tapi Darang, in his address, praised both teams and emphasized that they serve as ambassadors in the fight against drugs. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Gao family in organizing the tournament and said the audience eagerly anticipated the best performances.
The guest of honor, Shri Tayi Taggu, extended his best wishes to the Gao family and emphasized that winning or losing is a part of the game, adding that the public always appreciates the best-performing team. He also mentioned that the government has declared this year as the "Year of the Youths," urging young players to seize opportunities in national games.
SP Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal emphasized that sports are more effective than de-addiction centers in keeping youth away from drugs. He added that a good sportsperson is both physically and mentally fit, and with public cooperation, society can control the drug menace.
Despite heavy rainfall causing waterlogging on the ground, Ngorlung FC emerged victorious, defeating Ledum FC 3-0. While Ledum FC dominated the first half, Ngorlung FC scored one goal in the first half and two more in the second.
The winners, Ngorlung FC, were awarded a cash prize of Rs 80,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up, Ledum FC, received Rs 40,000 and a trophy. Individual awards of Rs 5,000 each were given to the best keeper, best defender, best veteran, best player, and best scorer.
TGMFT President Tatem Panyang and General Secretary Shri Kanong Moyong thanked all participating teams and expressed hope to see them again in the second edition of the tournament.
