I have a question: If a company didn’t send the IRS the 1099 for $30k worth of my contracting services… and that company didn’t send me 1099 either, and I report the income and pay my tax… will IRS come after me if that company was lazy and decides to send my 2023 1099 to the IRS at a later date? I don’t see that they reported the 2023 1099 yet, and my extension’s due in Oct. I’m doing the safe thing and reporting the income anyways but I would hate for the irs to think it was tip money when in fact it wasn’t tip money it was contracting work for the company that never sent 1099.
