The Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse stands tall near the mouth of the Piscataqua River, sharing the land with the old Fort William and Mary. The Coast Guard has its offices there, right next to a beacon that's been helping guide boaters since the 1700's. Jennifer Crompton paid a visit to the current structure, which was built 130 years ago, and is cared for by a group of volunteers known as 'the friends of portsmouth harbor light'.
