This is a lot of steps to process and in game you only have a split second to read all of it and execute. It takes a ton of practice and repetition to know which way a skater is going to go. The most important piece of advice not in this video is to not over think it or get mechanical. The spot in the crease you get to when you challenge isnt as important as timing you decision. Take away the angle, pull back and wait, then decide.

Hey just had a quick question about manual butterflies. When the skater is coming at the net, at what point do you drop down to butterfly for breakaways or penalty shots? I haven't got targeted a ton on my five hole in public games but every once in a while I let one in and it's super frustrating.

ive been getting absolutely dumpsterd this year on breakaway/PS. after watching this I think my problem is I'm moving first and trying to dictate whats open vs trying to stall and put the effuses on the skater to make the first move. like anything in life... its a work in progress, thanks for the amazing content PS: after watching the next vid (reading plays) I realized I never use speed boost for breakaways... gonna have to work that in and figure that out.

are these guys all just standing in front of the puck when the shooter lets it go? i am great at making stand-up saves and have good positioning but always struggle the most when people crash the net because my butterfly is awful. i hardly ever butterfly but if i stay standing up for close-quarter shots, i often get five-holed. any advice?
@tyl3r43eight3 жыл бұрын
Is there not a way to manually make glove saves or am I missing something?
@BaconNationChannel3 жыл бұрын
You position yourself and your guy does the rest of the low and high stuff automatically. You try to stay on your skates as much as you can, when the puck is real close to you you should be in butterfly (L2, LT or Triangle, Y) i.e. A loose puck in front of you. It's all left stick since '19. Right stick is kind of rough and does not accomplish what you would want it to do, it makes the goalie slide but most people never use it. Except for extreme measures such as breakaways or bad positioning out of the blue just like this video.

@alexpayne13643 жыл бұрын
I play goalie in actual hockey not the game and yeah the best way to face a breakaway or a penalty shot is being patient and wait for the player to make the move first and if you stall or make the move to slow pucks in so I agree with this video.
