Johnny just a heads up, something I recently discovered: if you want to know about a certain draft eligible player’s player type or NHL ETA, and your scouts didn’t uncover it before the draft, you can draft interview them and ask them, and it will then be uncovered. Could be helpful

If remembering is what you're looking for, there are little tracking spreadsheets that can be used to track all sorts of things and you can look through them to remember things like lines, head coaches, and anything else you want to track. It can be a bit tedious to fill out, but I do it passively to theorycraft lines in the offseason so it's not as long as it seems

I made a comment that you highlighted in one of the videos when Guenther's contract was originally up and said you should extend him and see how he does. So now that it's been a bit, hears my thoughts on him. I know you like Guenther for the PK and that he lost his x-factors because of his play time last season, but I think it's time to move on from him. He wasn't that great even with x-factors and elite potential, but now he has no x-factors and dropped down to top 6 potential. Surley there's a player you can trade for him that bolsters your top 6 and also kills penalties. Package Guenther in with one or two prospects and a 2nd or 3rd round pick and you shouldn't have a problem finding a better replacement for him. I think the Top 6 is pretty good, especially now with Kurri at an 87 OVR, but replacing Guenther with a better player would boslter it to the next level imo.

1. Most importantly move Tukkonen to AHL while moving Brisson and Kakko to the NHL. Tukkonen is only a 74 and needs more AHL time to develop while Brisson is a 83 and Kakko is a 82. Consider rotating Brisson, Kakko, and Gregor though Gregor should be a healthy scratch most often. 2. I am wondering if swapping Doan and Cooley is good idea. Putting Cooley with Laine and Guenther could strengthen them and could give Guenther his X-factors back, Doan would get a lot of assists playing with Vesce and get some X factors too. Also if recalled right, Vesce's faceoff stats was higher than Doan so maybe move Vesce to C. 3. See if some of the RFA's from last offseason like Tallinder or Jancevski can be acquired cheaply in a deal.

@reecewilliams155 It's the old saying of a sure thing vs the mystery box. Kurtz could grow into anything! He may even be as good as Quinn Hughes! If you were already getting rid of Maccelli, then moving Chychrun to keep Hughes and getting even more assets makes a ton of sense. You still have Kurtz being a high 80's second pairing dman. Locked down on a reasonable contract, and also have another franchise player in Hughes. So, really, it's would you rather have Chychrun or Hughes plus multiple 1st round picks? I know what I'm taking in that scenario. Y'all are picking the mystery box in hopes of Kurtz taking a leap, I'll take the sure thing and get some draft capital while I'm at it.

That was the dumbest decision ever to let Hughes go. Kurtz was perfect on the second line with Lindstein. Kurtz sealing is about 88-89 overall and 50-60 points. Hughes is a guaranteed 80-100 point player for next 6-7 years. Money is definitely not the problem, you could have signed him for 11,5-12M in re-signing phase. You could have had traded Werenski/Chychrun. And also not to have payed 2-3M on players on your 3rd pair/ depth in the AHL! Kurtz would have been perfect high 80s overall with 50 points alongside Lindstein in the future. In the trade deadline you should focus on improving that second line. You should be looking for an elite playmaker with x-factors to feed Laine. Doan doesn´t fit on any line with Wright and Guenther is basically a 3rd liner with that overall and stats. And for the love of god don´t play Kurri on that first line! He is on with a great contract and is a perfect defensive middle 6 winger on the future. I´ve had multiple 90 overall grinders on the first line but their maximum point total has been around 50 and they stunt the point totals of their line mates. First liners should always be with great offensive players (SNP, PLY or PWF) or great TWF that can put out about point per game. Of course Kurri can surprise and put out high point totals but wouldn´t count on that. I´m afraid that he puts out about 40-50 points a season and drags Cooley's an Vesce's point totals down. They can still be about point per game players with Kurri but with a right linemate they can put out 100-120 points in every season

Move on from guys like Kerfoot who are esting up cap room, then offer a 6th & 7th pick to sweeten the pot. Dont go higher than a 3rd, MAYBE a 2nd in an upcoming draft. If it means you get to draft in the first two rounds, so be it.

The issue is that 2nd line... I think you need to get a scouts in the AHL potentially and find guys down there with decent potential who shoot the hell out of the puck. They dont have to be great yet but you need to replace Laine's volume shooting eventually in 3-5 years. The future is bright... 1st and 3rd lines look set, rotate that 4th unit with plug an plays like Kakko, Gregor every season and you are golden. Also, on defense i think just continuing to throw darts at that position in the draft until something sticks is fine. Also with Blomquist and Stillman we have moveable assets to acquire the eventual Chychurn and Werenski replacements when they start to drop off. Until then the unit you have is strong.
