@@paperlapap505 Makar scored 28 goals as a blue liner. How many of those were due to a high scoring forward line? Assists may be due to the team, but goals from the blue line have nothing to do with MacKinnon, Rantanen, Kadri etc. Easy argument here is that Makar was easily the best defenseman this season, but one can argue there were better forwards than Matthews. Not many, but it could easily be argued. Top 1 d-man is more impressive than top 5 forward.

@@BasedAurelius The difference between Matthews and Makar is that one's goal scoring disappears in the playoffs while the other elevates the already ridiculous standard of play to new heights in the playoffs. I mean c'mon, even though the Leafs are tied with Tampa which is honestly impressive, Matthews' Rocket Richard winning goal scoring isn't the reason. He's got 2 goals and both came in a 5-0 blowout in game 1. Hell, Makar has more goals and points than Matthews in the same number of games _as a defenseman_. If Matthews were to play to his standard in the playoffs he should on average score once in every single game. He has not been MVP caliber so far.

When you’re leading 3-0 in a series, a sense of urgency gets stripped away. There is a false sense of security that no matter what happens, everything will be okay. That changed when Filip Forsberg scored on a defensive collapse by the Avalanche to give the Predators a 3-2 lead. Up until that point, Nashville has never led in the series. This is when the Avs went up another gear while sticking to their game plan. The greatest feature of this comeback was their patience and composure. Cale Makar set another record tonight by registering 10 points in the first 4 playoff games by a defenseman. The record was previously held by Paul Coffey, Denis Potvin, Joe Micheletti, and Bobby Orr. Whether it is scoring a goal or setting up a game winner, Makar gets it done when the light shines the brightest. Mackinnon also continues his goal streak with 5 in 4 games. These two were the MVPs of the series. I had all the confidence in the world that Francouz was going to pull through because that is what he has done throughout the season. I do have some concerns. Byram needs to stay out of the penalty box. He is the only player who served a penalty in 3 out of 4 games. The defense can also be a bit tighter especially during odd man rushes. As for the next round, I would personally prefer the Avalanche face the Blues than the Wild for one specific reason. I want Kadri to personally eliminate them and look Binnington in the eye with a sh*t eating grin during the handshake ceremony. For those who may have forgotten, Binnington took a swing at Kadri’s face with his goalie stick earlier in the season. The best way for Kadri to respond to that incident is to send him home crying. Props to the Flames for making it a series against the Stars by tying the series at 2-2. Oettinger can only do so much when he faces 50+ shots in a playoff game.

Never have we been so outclassed or received an ass whooping. Closest I can recall is VAN in 2011. However, I'm sorry, but it is time for David Poile to go after 25 years, especially if you let FF9 go for nothing...and then spend the remainder of Josi's career hoping for something out of an exhausted pipeline. Nevermind the egregious trades in recent years...1st for Hartman, 2nd for Lauzon, Wayne Simmonds and Brian Boyle, Granlund(who we love but gave up too early on Fiala), Ellis for pucks and a career AHLer, Turris, Cody Franson/Mike Santorelli, etc, etc. With 22 years of STH invested emotion, this long-time GMDP supporter finally said it.

First couple of periods, the Avs looked sloppy. Bad puck control, sloppy passes. No sense of urgency. Then the Preds went up by one and the Avs decided to put this game away. They collapsed on the net and made life a living nightmare for the Preds the rest of the game.

Absolutely. I was worried. Makar seemed to be the one playing up to his ability. Spin-o-rama SHG attempt, breakaway chance, the goal, and that nasty assist on Val's goal.

Instead of throwing fish on the ice..Nashville fans should of thrown a life preserver

Ingram is a good tendy, but this series would have different numbers (from 4-0 COL series win) if Juuse was in it

Preds should’ve thought twice before blowing a 4-0 lead to Arizona cuz if they won they would’ve played my flames and would’ve lost in 5 games not 4
@abrahamaskar46092 жыл бұрын
@Negus Negast ya here after the flames win in 7 and without Jake ottinger flames would’ve swept especially if rittich was in net

Finally. Two words: SERIES SWEEP!!! At least this is the only sweep in the 1st Round. Others have forced Game 5 and some are forcing Game 6.

I’ve been noticing commentators using “score” as a noun and it sounds so bad. It’s a verb. Like you score a goal. You don’t make a score. Am I wrong? I’ve heard it in a few games, different teams too.
@michaelcoloradogambler11712 жыл бұрын
Bluntly put, yes. It can be used as a noun as well (e.g. "We have a score"). It might not be what you're used to hearing, but that doesn't make the usage wrong.

...agreed -- makes me miss the play by play announcers yore: Cusick, Gallivan, Marv Albert, Dan Kelly...

What is it then when some one says “the score is tied 2-2” for example?
