The difference between the two teams right now is that Georgiev is being asked to not lose the game all by himself, and Hellebuyck is asked to win it all by himself. It is unfair, but the Avs are just the better team.

Not really. Avs look like the best team in playoffs rn but that’s only because the jets are getting the worst goaltending getting penalized too much and not showing up. They haven’t played any games this series to the full potential we’ve seen in the regular season.

I do see your point, OP. The Jets are failing him in a way that the pressure on his responsibility is made a lot bigger. The Avs have been shooting the hell out of the puck, so that adds to revealing the Jets lack of solid D. They can't contain a heavy skating Avs team.

I think Avalanche is best skating team in the league by far. They can demolish everyone by just how fast they ALL are. All you can do is to try to slow them down....but with all 4 lines being so good and fast, that's insurmountable task. Makar's skating is unbelievably smooth and powerful. There are many very good players in the league but I think he's the most complete. Makar's style of playing is the future of hockey. He's phenomenal.

as an English-born Australian, I just love the traditional of throwing the hats on the ice whenever someone scores a hat-trick. Tis wicked! Avs starting to find their mojo. This is looking like the second season in a row that the eventual Vezina winner gets wiped out in the first round. Last year, Ullmark got the Vezina after he and the Bruins fell apart in the first round against the Panthers, and now Hellebuyck, who is probably winning the trophy this season, currently has a GAA of 5.22. The last goalie to win both the Vezina and the Stanley Cup in the same year was Tim Thomas in 2011. Having the best goalie in the regular season doesn't mean you're winning the Cup anymore.

@@reallifelebowski4732 Lidström is probably the greatest defenseman of all time, but is not comparable to Makar in terms of offense. Makar has been at or over a point per game since he joined the league. Lidström was almost always much lower. That's why Makar is more often compared to Bobby Orr.

This game had proper colour commentary. Not excellent, but solid. 1. No telling me what to look at. Look at that pass. Look at that save, etc. I'm already looking. 2. No self-congratulatory "You mentioned that before the game" or "That's what we were talking about" comments about stuff that just happened which was peripherally related to something they said earlier. 3. Discussing strategy and reasoning at times rather than simply saying what you see. 4. No screechy high-voice.

This is the Jets' regular broadcast team, and yeah, I agree that they're really good. In addition to your points (all good observations), I'll add that they call the game evenly and aren't homers (they don't get excited only for Jets goals, or complain only about calls that go against the Jets, etc.).

Avalanche will have tough with Vegas, since the style of play is a match up that is particularly difficult for them. Just as was Kraken`s a year ago. Still hope they go far this year. Georgiev is not the avs` weak link, TO`s and occasional bad defending are.

I do not understand the Jets PK. Both D-men are higher than the Avs player, who they let stand right in front of Hellebuyck so he cannot see. They don't even try to move him, there's no battle for that ice; they just let him have the net front. How many goals were scored with a simple wrister from the point that Bucky didn't see?
