@@DonSmyth-c6f ok, Begalie, here is what I would do: fire Lalonde and have the best current asst coach finish the season on an interim basis then go shopping in the summer for a new coach. Maybe you’ll get a good one from a team that didn’t make the playoffs or got booted early. I would (Illitch Jr.) put Stevie on notice that HE is on the hot seat, too. We have a rudderless ship of a franchise and that’s on Stevie Y. Heck, he doesn’t even know what he wants, we don’t have a team identity and we have no plan on the TYPE of player we are even looking for. The Lions look for attitude and a “fit” for their culture. Not just anyone can play for the Lions. ANYONE can “play for the wings (see “misfit toys” comment). I would get Cossa a longer look up here NOW and see if that helps at all. We are 10 points out of the LAST playoff spot. Given that, this season is toast but I would give guys in Grand Rapids more of a look and I would sit vets who aren’t working hard and, if that’s Larkin, make him sit in the press box. Listen to ALL offers in the offseason. Then, “decide” what the culture is for the Red Wings and look for THAT kind of blue collar, tough player. Back to square one. Thank you, Stevie!

@@evanbrad7327 Sprong is just a role player who can score, but is absolutely minus in defense. The trade with Wallman was strange. Apparently there were some reasons that we don’t know about. But Detroit’s problems are not due to one or two players, the problems are in the game system as a whole and, above all, in the offense.

I suspect some Red Wing fans must be masochists. This will be the NINETH YEAR in a row the Team will miss the playoffs, yet where are the calls for Mr. Happy's head? One fool actually justified another miserable season as YzerPLAN Yzerman's "PLAN" to tank. Hasn't the Team been TANKING everyear, he (a so-called genius) took over? I think it's high time the Organization replaced Mr Happy with a legitimate Architect. Oh...you don't have to be a "genius" to TANK. After failing for so many years and securing higher draft picks, shouldn't a decent GM have something to show for it???

В позапрошлом сезоне Детройт набрал 80 очков в регулярном чемпионате, в прошлом сезоне уже 91 очко и уступил место в плей-офф Вашингтону лишь по дополнительным показателям (причем у Детройта разница шайб была +4, а у "кэпиталз" -37!). На этот сезон Айзерман укрепил атаку подписанием Тарасенко, сохранил Кейна, подтянул к основе своих молодых игроков - Эдвинсона, Каспера. Т.е. по всем прикидкам Детройт должен был сделать следующий шаг вперед и уже пробиваться в плей-офф. Но к удивлению всех план на сезон не сработал. Такое бывает, все ошибаются, и в этом сезоне мы уже видим, как не сработал план Тротца с Нэшвиллом, хотя по мнению всех экспертов Нэшвилл должен был уверенно заходить в плей-офф и стать одним из фаворитов Запада! Рейнджерс перед сезоном и еще месяц назад казался очень сильной командой и один из главных фаворитов Востока, но что с ним происходит в последние недели - там полный кошмар! И кто такое мог предвидеть?! Сейчас барахлит Ванкувер, Миллера почти на месяц выводят из состава, пошли разговоры о конфликтах между игроками и т.д. Баффало еще месяц назад казался вполне крепкой командой и способной побороться за плей-офф, а сейчас проигрывает 12 игр подряд! И это не полный список непредвиденных провалов и неудач только в этом сезоне, никто, включая вас не знает, какую команду постигнет такой кризис через месяц или два! Так что крики "позор!" - это слишком пафосно и крайние эмоции. Все ошибаются, всё предвидеть невозможно. Если вы прозорливее всех, то уже давно должны были стать миллиардером и сами стать владельцем Детройта или другого клуба. Но вот боюсь, что даже став владельцем клуба у вас будет шанс выиграть за 10 лет Кубок Стэнли не больше 2%, и можно заранее быть уверенным на 95%, что вы в процессе управления тоже допустите ошибки, которые не приведут вашу команду не что к Кубку, но даже в плей-офф!

I got laughed at for saying the wings would be worse this year. Why would they actually PLAY HOCKEY when they've made more money as a franchise this year than any other year in its history? Yzerman and the 'Yzerplan' is clear as day, play beer--league hockey and get paid FAT. Both uncle fester and stevie have to go im tired of other wings fans saying that the 'Yzerplan' is still in play. Dude, its been about 6 years.

Apparent since Stevie’s horrible decisions last couple yrs that this is a flawed roster. Not one power forward. Top 6 wingers all small, same player essentially. Foolishly thinking Copp is a 2C after an outlier career yr heading into FA. Then after that was obvious, he does the exact same thing with Compher. Both bottom 6 checking centers. Signs Talbot instead of Stolarz. The atrocious Walman deal. Deals the wrong veteran dman in Maatta. The list goes on. Debrincat gets tossed off the puck like a feather. Perimeter soft skill. And maybe Rasmussen can’t be that top center he was drafted to be, but how about a power forward? Maybe play with some grit. Just floats and it’s maddening. Lifelong Stevie fan for decades, his first couple yrs back were great, then the last couple have been horrible.

Well, no one expects great results from St. Louis now. They gave up their former leaders, changed the coaching staff during the championship and are in the process of building a new team. Detroit, according to Yzerman's plan and the expectations of fans and experts, should already be finishing the restructuring and getting into the playoffs. On paper, Yzerman assembled a roster capable of solving this problem, but in reality we see that the plan for this season did not work. So now either we need to change the coaching staff or make a couple of correct trades to shake up the roster and strengthen the team. If the task of getting into the playoffs is not solved, then in the summer it will be necessary to make a major restructuring of the roster, starting with the coaching staff.
