Playoffs are a different animal than regular season, teams today are so close in skill that 1st seed vs 8th really means little. I played for many years and players today are incredible, teams are more even than ever, and it's a great thing for hockey, greatest sport in the galaxy!

The final 2 minutes were just pure non stop INSANITY! At the same time though holy crap so many missed calls during those 2 minutes, high sticking, tripping, boarding, you name it all went uncalled during those 2 minutes, didn't matter which team, terrible officiating.

3:04 What the hell was Orpik doing? Burakovsky should have come back a little harder, especially with fresh legs, could have made a difference. Two missed assignments on the same play pretty much guarantees a goal in the NHL, unless your goalie bails you out. Orpik could not have played this worse.

I would put this one on orpik all the way. Burakovsky could have come back harder however that was not his man. Orpik was completely out of position.

Ivan Amankrah agreed, but you can be certain there are plenty of players who would have picked up on that open ice and read the play and been on his horse to take him out or at least pressure him. That is the difference between going home or raising the cup this time of year imo. I would also argue that it may not have been Burakovsky’s man but any player on the opposing team on a potential breakaway is ‘your man’ no matter where you are on the ice lol Another factor that makes it worse for Orpik is that there was only one of the two Canes on that side of the ice even moving...the only reason for him moving over there was hoping for a cut back hit ala Dion or even old Rob Blake. Those two watched more than their share of goals against their teams from their own blue line after going for the individual play.

Ugh, just watched this game. Hurricanes announcers are the worst kind. Essentially annoying cheerleaders for their team that never shut up. In the face of all evidence to the contrary, calling it in the favor of the Canes. The raucous crowd in Carolina are just as bad. While I like the fact that Canes making it to the playoffs has increased the exposure of the sport in a minor market, it is painful to hear a bunch of pumped up hockey novices groaning about obvious icing calls, booing the obvious minor penalty on the atrocious hit to Oshie (how is that a minor??), and generally displaying their lack of hockey knowledge. That said, Canes are playing very well and Washington played pretty poorly. Capitals better step it up if they don't want to get run out of the playoffs.
