Mikko made 44 saves and the Oilers scored two power plays goals. That is exactly the thing that they haven’t been able to do for almost two months. The problems are still there obviously they are still way too weak on defence and goaltending is shakey at best most nights but not this night. GG Oilers

I'm an Oilers fan but, Markstrom is absolutely one hell of a good goalie. I'm sure if Edmonton got him instead of Calgary, others wouldn't be calling him Marksbum. Same thing with McDavid, if Toronto got him, they'd be saying he's better than Matthews'. It's absolutely biased opinions 😆. Calgary definitely had the best chances of winning this game, and would have if it wasn't for Mikko. Markstrom shouldn't be embarrassed on Draisaitl's goal, that's a top end NHL goal scorer (if that's even a word 🤔)

The problem with the oilers is that when the powerplays drys up they are screwed considering the flames were the better team and outshot them by a lot. Understand come playoff time they are going to get ran through if there 5on5 doesn’t start clicking. Not a very convincing win but it’s a start.

Well since you're referring 5 on 5 offensively, here's some stats I'll break down for you in the pacific division. Vegas 2.3 goals per game. Calgary 2.0 goals per game. Edmonton 1.98 goals per game. Los Angeles 1.85 goals per game. San Jose 1.80 goals per game. Anaheim 1.76 goals per game. Seattle 1.72 goals per game. Vancouver 1.5 goals per game. As of today, the entire leage averages 1.99 goals per game at 5 on 5. Oilers are only one hair away from scoring league average. So I don't think 5 on 5 scoring is a problem with the Oilers. Should they have done better? Yeah of course- with all the talent they have in top 6. But that's not their problem. Their biggest problem is their lack of defense and goaltending, because they're by far one of the worst defensively at 5 on 5

@@algrundau9441 Garbage take. Anyone who’s not an oilers fan realizes the refs threw that game. The hit on nurse was clean, grow some balls. Pissy’s penalty wasn’t a bad call at all. You get 3 powerplays in a row while down 2-0 and the “penalty” on backlund was one of the weakest calls of the season. There’s also blatant interference on the game winning goal so if the refs did their job that goal doesn’t happen. Koskinen played great, it’s almost like oilers fans blame their goalie for everything…
