Markstrom had a very impressive game maybe 5 or so games ago. He honestly looked like the best goalie in the league that game and I've been watching the Flames ever since. They played some damn good hockey here. If their defense sharpens up a bit then they'll make the playoffs and do well there too.

Almost every loss for the the Penguins looks exactly like this during this season: 1. Penguins come out and bombard the other team with scoring chances and shots in the first period. Looks like the game may be a blowout, almost no chances for the other team. 2. Pens establish a 1 to 3 goal lead. 3. Lose lead on a remarkably low number of quality scoring chances against. 4. Give up winning goal (or goals) in the closing minutes of the game. 5. Rinse/Repeat

I am hopeful that this Pittsburgh team will be in rebuild mode on the trade deadline. We can't make the playoff this year.. We won't make it next year. Start rebuild now while we still can. If we wait too much it will take forever to rebuild. We can get a few round picks & prospects for guys like Malkin, Letang, Karlson. But if they continue to make mistakes like these at the end of the 3rd period...Their value will go down I would think. Graves and Letang both had the puck in their zone and Graves decided to go further into their own zone...And Gave it to Letang who clearly should have cleared it but didn't. LOL & SMH.

Flames have been monsters when down in the third. The pens are an old roster team. Can’t expect too much from them. Calgary being down 7 points from playoffs needed this one more. The pens need to start selling off players for a rebuild. You had your cup runs in the 2010s but all good things come to an end.
