Alot of team's PPs are struggling now. Opponents have enough data to predict puck movement and shooting locations to increase the likelihood of blocking incoming pucks. Good teams have PPs that are in constant flux re configuration and cycling. Canucks, despite their new kinetic flexibility of player designation on the PP, have become predictable. Time for the coaching staff to retool the strategic approach.

I used to scream at the TV, " It's time once again for Svewdish keepaway!" as the twins would endlessly cycle the puck around the outside, dazzling the fans with their evasive talents, as we watched the 2 minutes shrink to 1 minute, to 30 seconds before they fired at the target. That was so frustrating. And we're seeing it again now. I really like what RT has brought to the team, but his emphasis on off puck accountability has had a negative impact on Kuzmenko's mojo. And with an 80% EP40(notice how we haven't seen that right side one timer cannon for a while?) the PP looks quite average. That said, there will always be peaks and valleys in every year. The team has definitely dropped off from their first 15 games, but don't forget, they're currently 4th overall in the league, and have scored the most goals. That's gotta count for something right?

Battle of the Veteran Snipers! No prisoners taken! Then at the 18 minute mark of the 3rd, both drop the gloves at center ice to finish the night old school. The Millenials look on in horror, as the Boomers cheers wildly with fond nostalgia for the 70s blood lust bench clearing brawls that left many combatants with torn and bloodied jerseys as they staggered down the hallway to the showers. 😉

As someone who wants to watch NHL games, the NHL does a good job of making it a total headache for NHL fans. Limited local streaming options for games, other than paying for expensive cable. ESPN+ only games, but most local games are blacked out why? A total mess that the NHL made for themselves not sorry.

I don't think my Canes are going to the playoffs this year. People are always crying when i complaint about Aho. This game shows exactly what i mean: the impact and productivity that Elias has on Canucks, is exactly the same that Aho should have on the Canes. Of course, Aho was nowhere to be seen again. Just a couple of points here and there. For 9.5 mil? Jesus what a waste. Icing on the cake was when Pettersson absolutely humiliated Aho.

Canucks 2024th pick (projected 16-24th) + Podkolzin (10th overall 2019) gets what kind of return? Myers, Kuzmenko or Garland money can move out for an upgrade player age 24-28. Frank Vatrono has 3 GWG, but is in the division in Anaheim. Robby Fabri has 2 GWG, is with Detroit. If I'm on a budget.... COLE SMITH from nashville. Pup him and a few other nucks in a after hours practice to get him out of his rut so the next game he is fresh , , he had a great year last year nearly 50 goals , and he has made lots of friends here , if they trade him that will be a stab in the back for the last years work he did to get this team where it is today ,

People saying the canucks played a good 60 minutes are delusional. They played a good 14 minutes or so in the 1st. Outshooting them 13-2, out-chancing them, steady forecheck, good backcheck when needed. And then pinch when we shouldn't, everyone gets too deep and it's 1-1. From that point on we were outshot 25-14 and hung on. 60 minutes my @ss!!! Terrible PP, Great goaltending, bottom end of the league in shots for... the canucks still have some very bad underlying numbers, yet you putz's have the parade scheduled. I'm so, so glad they are winning, but unless they change some habits this isn't sustainable.

Petterson, Miller, Hughes, Demko and Boeser should share the '23/'24 Hart Memorial Trophy. You can't just pick one of those guys as the best player on the roster but if any one of them go down for an extended period it's going to screw with the chemistry. After this game I'm leaning towards #40 earning the top solo prize in the NHL. I picked the Canes as the Eastern Finals rep so I should be a little bit upset they lost but I like Vancouver, unfortunately I picked the Oilers as the Western rep this year, and yes, I feel stupid, if they don't make the playoffs it's gonna cost me $50 to buy in with a team that did and it'll probably be the Canucks or Jets.

One big issue I have with Tocchet is how he seems to not notice certain players that get little reward when they play well and leniency towards those who don't deserve to be in the starting line. Casey DeSmith's reward for a great performance and a shutout against Minnesota is a place on the bench. Why??? Demko is at times, bang out of form and had been leaking goals left, right and center. While he did in a way redeem himself, DeSmith fully deserved to play this game too. What's the point in making 100% effort if you're not going to get rewarded for it? I'd be pissed off if I was Casey.

Demko's the starter, unless it's back to back, he needs to get some games to get his form back if possible. I agree that Demko's been a bit out of sorts, but you can't really blame Demko for the ones he let in today. First one was him effectively trying to stop a 3-1 contested break(the 2 trailing defenders were not in position to cut off either of the passing options, so he was totally hung out to dry there. 2nd one was an east west pass through the crease, their defence needed to contest that lane better than they did there too. Last one was poor coverage with everyone clogging the lane, but not playing their checks. Demko got scored on in all 3 cases due to defensive coverage issues. The issue is really more that we've gotten spoiled with Demko absolutely robbing players of goals that should've by most means gone in, but if you play the backup too much, you're also denying Demko the chance to play back into form. DeSmith deserves to play more, yes. But Demko also deserves the benefit of being allowed to play back into form. Let it go and just be happy we can afford to let that happen between the 2 of them. DeSmith will likely absolutely be leaned into over the season with how he's played, but we absolutely can't afford for Demko to be left in a rut and for him to be stuck in that rut.
