Probably one of Demko's best games by far in a while, stopping 37 shots is impressive!!! Now, lets just hope he continues playing like this, cause Martin can only play so much, and he's been doing pretty well.

If his slump coincides with new pads, it's possible they were defective in some small way that had a major impact on his performance, or they were just a bit uncomfortable to him and that minor distraction was just enough to degrade his performance.

You don’t trade Franchise goalies. Look at the oilers and leafs always need a goalie. They need to cash in on Horvat tho. Get a haul for him. Build around Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, Kuzmenko, Podkolzin and Boeser. Get some luck maybe get Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson.

You obviously love losing too much. You don't trace away your present and future stars and franchise players for a bunch of maybe some day's. That's what the Oilers spent the 90s, 2000s and 10s doing and look what it got them, the honor of being the farm team of the NHL. You BUILD a winner by getting and KEEPING your young talent that's WORKING and PRODUCING. The Canucks are finally just starting to raise after losing the dead weight of those ass contracts from guys like Louie Eirickssen, Sutter and Rouselle. Not that Sutter or Rouselle were bad players, but just overpaid for what they are, energy/checking guys who could contribute on the 3rd or 4th line.

If you trade Horvath, you better somebody who can win faceoffs in return because he is it. A couple of years ago, Horvath, Miller, and Beagle were tops of the league in that department. Beagle is gone. Don't know what happened to Miller. Pettersson, as much as I like him, is not very good with faceoffs although he's getting much better than his rookie year. Maybe he will eventually be very proficient since he has been improving every year.

@@joelface A huge key to that was Thatcher Demko getting back to playing the way we've come to expect. A huge part of the Canucks blowing leads throughout October and early November was Demko's struggles. It's hard to keep a lead when your goalie's spotting the other team 1 or 2 goals every night. Demko didn't do that tonight and this is the result. The Canucks have a run and gun team and need to be able to depend on their goalies to be a wall back there to compensate for their high risk, high reward style.
