Stuart Skinner stopped all 43 shots he faced to earn the shutout and Connor McDavid scored a beauty to tally the 300th goal of his career to help the Edmonton Oilers blank the Los Angeles Kings 2-0.

I was watching a Leafs game recently and the broadcast team suggested that Marner was currently the best play maker in the game. I understand that is the right thing to say in a leafs broadcast. But Leon is really in a league of his own right now and is the absolute highlight reel.

how the hell was Doughty not called for rule 3.2 playing with a broken stick? You have to drop all broken pieces immediately when it breaks, yet he kept it, skated out front of the goalie and used it to try to block Bjugstadt's shot. The officiating is abhorrent this year man.

@@jareid82 hopefully indeed. oilers are all but certain to make playoffs with 1-2 more wins so skinner will need to keep the performance tonight as the norm for the oilers to stand a chance against the especially strong eastern conference this season. east already has 5 guaranteed teams with only the golden knights being the 1 guaranteed playoff so far. technically the point difference between teams in the east is pretty big compared to west but still the only teams with 100+ points are in eastern.

@@AHFAN11 yeah, but that only matters in the finals. I do think the east is stronger overall this year, but the top teams in the west can play to that level. The Oilers for example have played the best in the east well, we unfortunately play down to bad opponents. Getting to finals is the gauntlet no matter the conference and I don't see an easier round from Pacific unless you get a wild card. Vegas, LA, and Edmonton are all on huge heaters since the new year. Minnesota, Colorado, and even Dallas are scary. So really the fight is for winning the division just to hopefully reduce games played in the long haul if you do manage a run. And we all know how common upsets are even for regular season juggernauts. If I was playing a Boston I'd almost rather have them in the first round than the finals. If they make it that far, they probably win after the season they've had, but the change in style can make for some wild first round upsets.

Actually he was doing fantastic early in the season, lots of .947 .952. 972. 974. Hence his all star appearance. He sorta cooled off as of late with a couple softies in each of his last couple games. This was one heck of a Fantastic Bounce back game though. Hope this is him getting hot again going into the playoffs.

Try playing a game where the NHL is ensuring that the refs allow McDavid to do whatever he wants because he's the playoffs/ NHL golden ticket. The things he gets away with is ridiculous almost every game. He's talented for sure, but play the right way. Refs should be ashamed for allowing his wreckless play to harm others. NHL doing whatever it can to help Edmonton to get the 1 seed. Games can be so rigged.
