Thank you for this upload! Personally, I never got over the North Stars leaving. I've really tried to embrace the Wild and I just fall short. It has nothing to do with wins or losses I'm assuming I'm stuck in some type of nostalgia and getting too old to snap out of it but sure as hell hope to because I love hockey. Thanks, had to get that off my chest.

My memories of these guys and their games is still so fresh, that it's like watching a regular game. I keep thinking "Knock Savard on his azz and let's get going." As a kid in Minnesota in the 70s, I watched the Broten brothers play, I saw Neil and company win the gold, and I saw our team reach the Stanley Cup. Those were special times. Just like people in Brooklyn who still lament the loss of their Dodgers, we will never forget our North Stars.

This is "My favs and Hated list" not by who is better just favs: Ciccarelli, Broten, Bellows and Modano. My Hawks "hate" list were Savard, Secord and Cyr. I just can't put Murry Bannerman on my list I always respected his game too much even during those vicious 80s series. Always did have real respect for the guys on my "hate" list even while in Jr High at the time. Hon. mention to Willie Plett.

I thought the Minnesota North Stars were the Dallas Stars franchise. Didn't the Minnesota Wild come into the league as a expansion team?
@Automowdown5 жыл бұрын
The Stars moved to Dallas due to financial, playing location, and also beileved to be controversial reasons. Several reasons were cited for the Stars relocation from Minnesota to Dallas, including poor attendance during a string of losing seasons, the failure to reach deals for a new arena in either Minneapolis or Saint Paul, and a sexual harassment lawsuit against Stars owner at the time, Norm Green, that resulted in his wife threatening to leave him unless he moved the team out of Minnesota. The subsequent decision to relocate the franchise to Dallas, Texas made Norm Green much reviled in, where he derisively came to be known as "Norm Greed". The North Stars also struggled with sponsorship issues with the arena they played in; them sharing the arena with NBA team the Timberwolves, the Stars were partnered with Pepsi while the Timberwolves were partnered with Coca Cola, which caused trouble with pouring rights and what beverage products had to be served because both teams had locked in contracts and partnership with them, meaning the vendors had to keep switching sodas every sport event and it was a mess because they were both locked in with their vendor partnership and couldn't get out of them. After the Stars moved to Dallas, the state of Minnesota was missing a team in the NHL, so they made the Wild after trying to buy and bring back the star, but failed after Green selling the Stars to a new owner. Recently the Wild players wore the vintage North Stars jersey as part of their warmup/pregame uniforms, but got in hot water with the lawyers of the Dallas Stars for using their old team uniform and logo without their permission and it being that the Stars are still an active team with their history and legacy as the North Stars. The Wild had no right to wear the North Stars uniform because that was not their legacy, the Wild are a new team. That would be like the Boston Red Sox wearing old Boston Braves uniforms while the Braves are still an active team in Atlanta.

@@Automowdown I pretty much knew all the reasons why the North Stars moved to Dallas. I was just confused when I saw the Wild using the old North Stars jerseys because I know they are still part of the Dallas Stars franchise. I didn't know that the Wild got in trouble for wearing them but it makes sense. I was a huge Minnesota North Stars fan, and now a huge Dallas Stars fan and ironically can't stand the Minnesota Wild. I was pretty upset when I saw them wearing the old North Stars jerseys.
@Automowdown5 жыл бұрын
@@daved1535Yeah. The Wild wanted commemorate the 50th anniversary for the state of Minnesota playing in the NHL and they wanted to celebrate it by the Wild players wearing the North Stars jersey. I still thought it was dumb to do that because the Stars moved to Dallas in 1993, and Minnesota were out of the NHL until 1997 when they announced a new team was being made again and the Wild's first NHL wasn't til 2000. So apparently Minnesota thought they were still part of the NHL within those years of the Stars moving and the Wild's first season in 2000, and that they had the right to take another team's legacy and history. Dallas were upset about the Wild doing that because the Stars were planning on doing it for the 50th anniversary of the Stars franchise. So Dallas put the Wild's owner into court because the Stars is still active just in a different city, and was settled that the Wild are no longer allowed to wear the North Stars jersey again. The Wild should've worn their jerseys in the style and color of the old North Stars jerseys, but still had the Wild logo on it as commemorating their anniversary and not get in legal trouble
@rjsweda5 жыл бұрын
correct, yet minnesota fans still love the old north stars. it would be cool for wild to wear old north stars jerseys and still be the wild since dallas are the stars, though you could have 1 team as stars and 1 as north stars. cfl has 2 roughrider teams.
