I'm surprised you didn't mention Joe Murphy. First overall pick in 1986, over 15M in career earnings (~31.8M today), and he's homeless. One of the issues leading to his homelessness is said to be his multiple concussions.

@@jonmendelson1104 the joe Murphy story is so sad how he had concussions and the NHL closed him off because of their greed and think of his daughter how she missed out on being with him; it's not much different than people with mental health issues, when people ignore and they lose out the same way.

I dont get how these guys spend this much money. I know they have a lot of "help" doing it but really, when you're making millions after taxes you give half to a fiduciary (a financial advisor who is actually required to tell you the truth and work in your interests) and the other half you can use at your discretion. That's still WAY too much money.

Oilers seem to miss him while he's out healing from his hernia surgery. He's become less of a dbag since he's up there too. I wish him a speedy recovery, he gets rid of his mental bad habits and then he gets one of the most painful type of injury that isn't obvious as to what it is, it starts in the abdomen but if you ignore it, thankfully he didn't and stopped playing in the playoffs last season in the conference finals, he tried one game and noped out, you don't want it to move below the abdomen (those things move around), lol 🤣

Just imagine what you do with such a fortune that's all behind you, and you choose to spend it all so foolishly or risk it all for nothing. It's amazing to think some players just wanted that much more than they got, when we're talking about making millions a season. I can see why you would definitely need to hire a financial advisor, because for some reason, the figures you earn can become so overwhelming you don't know what to do with what you spend it on.
