Me and my 7 year old son watch this together on sundays. He's so good at naming the hockey teams and also understanding the English language (we live in the cold north of Sweden so he learnt English with own interest). My son guessed the right number spot on Colorado, Edmonton, Carolina, Toronto. From the fifth spot until first, he was guessing Minnesota on every spot until the first spot. Then he guessed Arizona Coyotes to be number 1 on the power ranking. I was laughing so much! 🤣Then he screamed with joy as you put the Minnesota puck on the last spot, "YES it is Minnesota Wild!" Thank you so much for making these videos, it means alot for us ❤

Lurven, that is so cool! Years from now your son will look back fondly on these experiences with you! By the way, I noticed you spelled “learnt” the British English way, which of course is logical since you live in Europe. Here in the US, we spell it “learned”. There are several minor differences between British English, Canadian English, and American English. And people tell me English is hard to learn anyway. So good on your son for learning. It will help him a lot as he moves on in his life. It sounds like you are a great parent!! Cheers!

Thank you guys! Yes, I have relatives in both Minnesota and Wisconsin so the English will come in handy for my kids. At some point we'll have to travel to the US and visit them. They have visited us in Sweden a few times and they are quite proud of the Swedish heritage.

I’m a Capitals die-hard and they have really impressed me. McMichael and Protas have taken quantum leaps. I knew the roster was deeper than last season but they are mentally a very tough team. 9 road wins in a row. 🦅🚨

McMichael is something else. Protas has been good sure, (and I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I think he's already at his ceiling), but in the category of "player in the league I never, ever expected to be this good," McMichael stands alone. Kid is fantastic.

@@gmaasry You could be right about Protas, his skillset is still impressive for his size. McMichael is definitely the better player, he developed a lot in Hershey. He's a pain to defend this season! I'm just hoping OV isn't too slowed down when he returns.

@@gmaasry I’m fine with this being Protas’ ceiling if he can stay around this level. If he can become a 50-60 point forward that is defensively strong and a fantastic forechecker for less than 3.5 a year until 2029 that you took in the 3rd round that is a huge win.

Protas is nearly a point a game right now…he’s dominant along the boards and forces tons of turnovers. Not sure how it’s a Debbie downer to say nearly a point a game is his ceiling.

The Wild have a tough stretch coming up, plus they have a a lot of injuries right now. Hopefully they've banked enough points to weather this storm. Like Shannon said, every team goes thru it, what matters is how short you can keep the lull and how quickly you bounce back.

I would also argue this is where the buyout cap penalty shows more than ever. The wild aren't a bad team and their depth is "okay", but they lack the additional cap space to have real quality depth pieces to move up in your line-up. Typically Hartman is that guy for the wild, but his game has been pretty brutal the past couple games. I suspect he may have aggravated the broken thumb because his passing and shooting has looked awful the past few games.

This is 27yo Blackwood’s seventh year in NHL, he had five seasons with Devils and got about 140 starts before going to SJ last season where he started 41 games. Yes, I had to look that up 🙂 and no, he probably wont ever be a number one but you never know…

I'm not sure why the Caps dropped 1 spot. 5 points in the last 3 games. Tor, loses both games of a back to back. Caps win both games of a back to back on the road. Both drop 1 spot. Caps are tied with Win for the best winning percentage in the league. Idk does not make sense that Fla jumps them.

He’s said a million times, teams don’t necessarily drop because they’re playing poorly, but because they’re playing the same and another team started playing better. He clearly thinks the panthers started playing better, so they earned the #2 spot, therefore caps must drop. Simple as.

Factually incorrect. Several teams have played fewer games so far than the Capitals and the Wild have played the same number of games with fewer regulation losses.

Winnipeg is missing Samberg on the Dline more than Ehlers. Scheifle’s been playing injured. They are having some trouble coping with the injuries and overplaying Morrissey in particular. But good to see them playing some of their youngsters because they have banked points- so not worried about the drop in the rankings. Just anxious for the return of Samberg and for Scheifele to be back at full strength. Ehlers will help their PP which has also started to flag. Go Jets!

Carolina needs to figure something out. Their defense takes vacations and allows 3-4 goals in a single period, unacceptable. Rods been throwing the lines in a blender. I wonder if we’re regressing to our expected performance after overperforming our first 20 games.

The hot start allows relative comfort in not worrying about dropping out of a playoff spot. I think Walker at -5 is the current weak link so getting Andersen back and a D replacement at the trade deadline are worth waiting for.

Every game if you see them play has been something of a disappointment where the defense leaves whoever is in net out to dry with multiple breakaway attempts against. Scoring 4+ goals a game to win because of poor defensive positioning and play is unsustainable.

I think that this 5 game road trip against Winnipeg, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton will say a lot of where they truly are and what needs to be done about roster changes or moves. I think Pasta and the PP will rise up in the next 10 days.

Some context for mitchkov "benching", apparently the language barrier is still pretty strong so they wanted him to sitdown and watch the game with a translater and explain to him what was expected of him and how the team wants to play the game.

Just saw that the Caps have played the 7th toughest schedule of all 32 teams. They have the 2nd easiest schedule remaining. Also, they will have lots of rest win the four nations snub happens in February. No players on the Caps invited. It's a snub, but rest is a silver lining.

I feel like the last two games for the Avs have been a perfect embodiment of how he's performed so far this season. I think Dallas is starting to get the DeBoer Effect now. With Seguin being injured that certainly doesn't help, but if you look at DeBoers history, he's almost always at his best in his first year, and then it starts going down from there. I also found when he was in Vegas that he would just make changes for making changes sake even though they make no sense. I don't expect to see Dallas have a huge step forward, just a slow downward spiral.

I was worried about this. I wonder how much the DeBoer Effect was being counteracted by Pavs' on-ice leadership. Without him, the team's identity feels like it's eroding, and we've gone from a deep bench to just being carried by Otter and Marchment

There are really talented young players but, to be honest, Benn is NOT a leader and at times I am not sure he's worth the hassle, saw that in the playoffs a couple years ago along with just the way Dallas has been over the years with him being there the whole time.

I watch or go to basically every Sabres game and it has been just "they have to be good at some point" since 2012 pretty much. I am 34 and I was 20 when they last made the playoffs. I was not even old enough for a drivers license when they last won a round. I hear people complain about teams that have been in the finals within the last decade or even in the playoffs and just wonder how people imagine it feels to not even get any feel of that for a decade and a half. Being a Sabres fan is the hardest of any team in the NHL and the NHL is the only pro sports that matters. At least when it comes to World Jr USA has won in that. Otherwise I have absolutely no sports that keep me happy. I love my life, but when it comes to sports "If they win a few in a row" has been the only thing keeping me going

Canes fan here. They're giving up multiple breakaway every game, lots of 2 on 1s, aren't clearing the puck in front of the net, I could go on. I'm sure they'll turn it around, and I don't think a lot of us are that worried since the scoring had stayed pretty consistent though.

The thing about the Canes is when they are off their system things tend to get ugly really fast. Most of their losses so far have been a single bad period.

@@maxfish4270 Usually it causes scoring to dry up though, they've been very good about that this year (martin necas has been a big part in that). This time it's defense, it kind of just looks like they're getting exploited by stretch passes and odd man rushes.

It's an interesting situation there. Usually you fire the coach and have an interim from behind the bench or AHL, but in this case they rapidly signed their new permanent one. As mentioned, he has a lot of familiarity with the team. I still think they lack a lot, especially on defense, but they have become more interesting to view anyway.

As I was watching the EDM vs STL game I heard Suter was on the Blues (totally forgot). But I found it funny that he hasn’t played for any team outside of the central division. I was wondering if you could do a video of players who have moved teams but stayed in the same division or even conference.

I think Stammer and Marshy are great players both HOF imo (probably a bit biased to Marshy in that regard) But these guys as wingers struggle when they don’t have someone like Kucherov or Eichel to pass them butter multiple times a game.

I also agree that The Jacob Trouba Trade & Igor Shesterkin Signing might bring them out of their funk, or, at the very least, they can't be using them as Excuses any longer. Stars are incredibly frustrating right now. Not being able to play a full 60 minutes has been a problem for them for years now. The inconsistency on the road is really hurting them this year too

Interesting how most teams do well, then go thru a funk, them go on a winning streak. Most struggle to be consistant. Some teams like Montreal, Buffalo, have a lot of talent, but stumble.

Jackets need to fix their penalty kill immediately. It cost them in Western Canada and made the Chicago game look closer. 26 is about right with a potential bump next week with 3 home games following a game in Winnipeg

Love the content you put up. Nothing wrong with a bias toward your teams, I for one like it, that’s why we are fans first. Be a dull sport if we had no bias, geez people c’mon. Shannon does a great job. Interesting fact: my son’s Junior C team in NS after 15 games sits 2nd in the standings, but their PP is at 92.4% to date! It’s unreal. I feel like being a Buffalo fan at this point qualifies as being in an abusive relationship. You feel like you need to end it once and for all, but they beg you to stay, promising they'll be better and get some more wins. For a while it'll seem like they've changed, they'll win a bunch of games and get close to to playoff line. ...And then they start running it down again and the hellish cycle repeats itself.
