It is not a chicane it's a hairpin, you deploy handbrake to get round quick & neat.

@@janesummers1371 agreed, a very simple manoeuvre butchered by drivers who could not complete it. Perhaps they need to give autotesting ago before they start rallying…

It was the first time they'd had to run that section, so it was an evolution; initially intended to be a double apex that should be driven as a hairpin, but became possible to drive around for those who couldnt pull a handbrake, or have appropriate steering lock for a tight circuit stage - wide enough to turn a boat BY about stage 5, but some cars still struggled.
