student nurse here, i have so much respect for the hca's. if u guys went on strike the ward would fall apart. i continuously learn from u guys everyday, u r always smiling and there for the patients and us students.... even after you've done your 10 th last office n u have another 10 to go u will still muster a smile. sort of jealous of u guys in a way as u get to be more hands on, whereas rn's these days are normally just doing paperwork which is not proper nursing as far as im concerned. either way THANK U NHS and HCAS U R BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!!!!

For me, caring, like other areas of life is a universal thing, no more do I think caring is just woman's work. Men can do just as good and this individual is doing his best. Went through the usual, application, training, checks, etc.

Well done mike, good luck on your nursing journey. I completed another shift on a respiritory ward today as a clinical volunteer, an i mentioned to the matron my aspirations to become a HCA, she in turn have told me that the trust is looking at a potential fastrack scheme for clinical volunteers wanting to get into healthcare as a career.

@HealthCareers
@HealthCareers 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for contacting Health Careers. It’s fantastic to hear you are nursing assistant in Ghana and considering coming to the UK to work within the NHS. NHS organisations are recruiting people from overseas (particularly nurses at the moment), but you’ll need to get permission from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) before you can live and work in the UK. You may need entry clearance before travelling here too. It’s important that you understand the UKVI points-based system and how it will apply to you. You’ll also need to meet the skilled worker criteria before you can apply to live and work here. Have a look at our overseas health professionals web page for more detailed information and useful links. When you’re ready to look for a job, the next step is to find out where vacancies are available. Most NHS vacancies are advertised on the NHS Jobs website so it’s a good idea to set up an account on the site. The individual pages in our explore roles section also have lots of further information and useful links to look for vacancies so you may find them helpful too. Best wishes, The Health Careers Team

Dear Lorenzo, Thank you for contacting Health Careers. It’s fantastic to hear you are considering a career as a healthcare assistant within the NHS. Healthcare assistants (HCAs), sometimes known as auxiliary nurses, work within hospital or community settings under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional - usually a nurse or midwife. The role can be quite varied depending upon the area in which the person is employed. HCAs play a key role in routine nursing care. For example, you might take and record temperatures and blood pressures; help patients with washing, feeding, and toileting; make beds, and assist people who have problems walking. One of the most important tasks is spending time with patients: talking to them, helping them to deal with any concerns, and reassuring them. With further training, HCAs can take on extra responsibilities such as taking blood samples and removing catheters. There are no specific qualifications required to work in these roles at a more junior level and the roles and entry requirements can vary for each post. We recommend that you visit the NHS Jobs website, where you can search for job and apprenticeship vacancies with NHS employers across England and Wales, and apply online. By looking at the job description for each vacancy, you can find out what the jobs duties and responsibilities are; and by reading the person specification, you can view the exact requirements for the vacancy, in terms of education, skills, and experience. Please find the website here: www.jobs.nhs.uk Working as an HCA is rewarding in itself, and you will usually work towards the Care Certificate, developed by Skills for Care, Skills for Health and Health Education England. If you wish to develop your career further, by applying for more senior positions, then you may be supported to work towards a level 3 QCF qualification. This level may meet the minimum entry requirements for nurse training at a university, although you should always check with each university to clarify what their entry requirements are. Alternatively, with experience as an HCA, you could apply for vacancies as an assistant practitioner or trainee nursing associate and may be supported to work towards a relevant foundation degree (such as in healthcare practice or nursing associate studies) on a part time basis. Successful completion of this could enable you to enter the final year of a pre-registration programme in nursing or another clinical career, but again, you should check with each university. You can read more about working as a healthcare assistant on our website: www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/clinical-support-staff/healthcare-assistant You can read more about working and training as a nursing associate on our website: www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/nursing/roles-nursing/nursing-associate For further information about working or training as a nurse, please visit our website: www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/nursing The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) also has useful information about the variety of opportunities in nursing and support workforce careers: www.rcn.org.uk/professional-development/nursing-careers-resource As Health Careers is an information service and is not resourced to provide careers guidance or counselling you may find it beneficial to contact the National Careers Service for free careers advice and guidance. They are available via phone, email, or you can make a face-to-face appointment. Web: nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk Phone: 0800 100 900 Anyone applying for a role either directly in the NHS or in an organisation that provides NHS services will be asked to demonstrate the values of the NHS Constitution and how it would apply in their everyday work. www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/working-health/working-nhs/nhs-constitution We do hope you have found this information useful.
