Had i been 5 mins to late to find her, i would had lost her. Mental illness is REAL and dangerous. To our hmong families, especially our older parents, please pay attention to your kids. Listen to them and recognize their pains, and desperation for help and love. Its REAL. I experienced it first hand.

I respectfully disagree with the mother placing the entire burden on the older son to look after his younger brother. I brought this topic up before. Our community is aware of the expectations of a daughter as we are very open about our experiences, culture, and how we advocate for change. However, I realize that majority of our Hmong brothers/ men are quite quiet when it comes to their experiences. Sometimes, I wonder if the expectations of being a tub can be too overwhelming and often wonder about how they are coping with it. Best regards

I’m so sorry for your loss. Suicide is a big thing in our hmong community for our young adult kids and it is one of my biggest fear that’s why I always telling my husband to go soft on them. They are built different from us who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s.

Problem here is the parents picked people for themselves only. That’s why as divorcees, you needed to pick people who were there for you and your kids. There are good people out there, you just need to make sure you take your time to find them. My new husband not only helped with $2,000 but we also did 2 hand tying ceremony for them. Once when she first was brought home then again when they went to my Nyab’s for the wedding. It’s unfortunate that this young man did not get the help he needed.

This is the saddest story ive heard of May's. I balled my eyes out and had to listen the second time to hear everything to end. Makes me so furious at the parents. The mom should've taken him in, its not his job to take care of his younger brother. If the stepmom was that bad, she should've had fought custody of the younger son.
