I had a similar experience. I have 4 brothers and they were not able to take care of my father so my husband said that we'll bring him to come live with us. 3 of my brothers were supportive but I had one brother who rather put my father in a nursing home than let him live with me. He told my father, he'd call my husband's family and "foob" us. He told my dad that I'd throw him out in the garage when the time came for my dad to pass which was not true. My father lived with me until he took his last breath. I dropped him off at dialysis one morning and an hour later, the police came to notify me he had passed. From the day I was born till the moment he took his last breath, my dad protected me. He did not pass in my house so that my brother wouldn't create problems for me. My brother came to the funeral as a guest and tried to create problems for me but my other three brother stood in front of me and protected me. Sometimes we forget all the sacrifices our parents made for us and we could never repay them but the least we can do is give them our love in their past days. If you still have your parents, don't forget to tell them that you love them.

Sis you are very lucky. My grandma passaway about 10y ago. I took care of her like you did for 10y cause due to her knee at her later age she couldn't walk. However, im not bless like you. I'm not mad nor disappointed in such unfortunate. I happy she's in a good place cause she suffered such life events at a later age. She taught me how to care for elders, how to humble life and think openly. Future are not written on stone.

Rt? Same here… I’m trying to do my best too for everything . I’m not the daughter in law my father in law likes n wanted my husband to stop dating me when we were dating… but now that he’s retired, he chooses to live with my husband n me. He has like… 3 other daughter in laws he could live with.
@Nkaujhmoobmaus20242 жыл бұрын
I agree. This is just from the daughter side of the story. I am sure there's the daughter in law side too. Some in law will never love you even if you're the one to care for them. My husband is the baby. After my FIL passed away my mil give everything away to everyone else but my husband. And she moved to live wirh her daughter out of state. Now she old but won't come back to us cause they know they have done me wrong. So as good as the daughter in this story make herself to be. I am sure she is the cause of why her aister in law dialike the parents so much. Some parents love there daughter more than the son. She even says it in the beginning of the story that her dad love her more than her two brothers. It show how those parents favorite one child Over another child. The daughter was the favorite. That's why she fought for everything.

I had been through the same experience with both side! But I saw that with my mom and my mother in law and I loved her till her last breath I can see my life has changed. Not just my in law I took but my father in law sister she pass in my house. I'm a Christian now so I don't believe the old tradition anymore. The more I love them I believe I'll receive more in return. Praise God!

Nursing home. Nothing wrong with the nursing home. I know many Hmong folks think nursing home is a no go but when it threatens your relationship, your mental health, and the quality of life of the disable one, best to take them to the nursing home.
@YangFamOf82 жыл бұрын
Agreed! However, our elders do not agree with nursing homes because they grew up in a different era. Elders do not want to live in nursing homes because most of them don’t speak English and they don’t like American food. Hopefully the younger generations would consider nursing home instead of putting a burden on their children. I’d rather be in nursing home. My kids have lives and they also need to work and care for their kids.
