I totally love the moment when they are both laughing after Ellie's bad joke. It's literally the first time we see Joel smile. Their bonding ads some much needed levity to the show considering all of the tragedy they (and we) have experienced since Episode 1. Another great reaction, Nia. Thanks. I like how this show is for old AND new fans. The addition of Kathleen to the show is what I like in this adaptation, since she wasn't in the game, even the original fans don't know everything that's about to happen keeping the story new and fresh AND the inclusion of scenes like the adult magazine, the pun book and the decoy/shooting scene, makes the story familiar enough to appeal to fans of the game. It feels like some adaptations only care about nostalgia-baiting or change the original label to the point it's unrecognizable, the last of us stays true to the plot while adding extra things that wouldn't be possible in the video game

Opening of the episode her finger is in the trigger well, looking in the mirror to see how "bad ass" she looks with the gun, before removing the magazine (what most people untrained consider unloading the gun... pew pew pew before clearing the chamber (the live roumd ready to fire already in position). I was taught a few important details at the outset. 1. your finger never enters the trigger well (the guard around the trigger) until you anticipate actually firing in the very near future 2. every gun should be considered loaded at all times, even if you cleared it yourself. 3. every gun is a destroyer, never point it at anyone or anything you do not wish to cause grave harm to 4. When fired, bullets do not go where you want them to go, they go on the trajectory they are on when they leave the barrel. 4a. This means if you do not put them on the right path, they will eventually hit something you did not intend (clear the background of your target, is there anything there you want to protect?) 4b. This means the bullet may not stop at your target, if it continues through will it hit something you did not intend? 4c. Is there anything that may come between you and your target which you do not wish to damage (clear target path)

I know what you mean about never ending steps. I don't know about Mt. Fuji buti went to Poenari Castle in Romania when I was in college in 1997 and it was 1,480 concrete steps to the top. They had benches built in along the way for people to rest.

I think this was the only episode i didnt cry during. I was pretty pissed tho, that joel would be dumb enough to drive thru the city when he knows whats going on in places like that. They lost their truck and all the great stuff the took from bill’s.

To be fair to Ellie, 20 year old black coffee isn't all that great lol. And I didn't like it much at her age either (of course all I ever knew was cheap burnt lukewarm coffee they give out for free at church) My husband is a coffee fanatic, he grinds his beans and everything lol. I love coffee now

This episode, in combination with reactions to it and comments about it, made me realize I can be pretty cold in theory. Everyone else is saying things like "I don't think I could kill the guy while he's calling for his mom," or "That guy begging for his life really got to me." Meanwhile, I'm sitting there going "He was trying to kill us 10 seconds ago! Now he's crying because he's on the losing end of the fight. Kill him!" Of course, it might be different to actually be there, but my thought process while watching wasn't at all merciful.

Nope. I'm pretty sure he didn't shed a tear when his victims cried out for their loved ones as he killed them. He got no sympathy from me. It seems people always focus on the killer and not the victims!

Because they are soldiers of Kathleen's, and I bet that she had given them guard duty based on what they did. Anxiety just before death is pretty damn awful, no matter if you are on the bad guy side from someone's perspective. Have some more love in your heart.

No, they ain't FEDRA. In the game these are raiders who prey on 'civilians' that enter the city. The hunt, rob and murder them and then burn the bodies. The disturbance under the ground, that's.... awwww you'll find out :D
