@@Liminal-Lagomorph The only silver lining of this is that you can get increased XL candies from walking with your buddy. So you can make one your buddy and go out for walks. It's not the best way cause it's probably going to take a while but it is something. I don't condone what Niantic is doing; it just hurts the player base more than it helps. Especially since it's summer and it's going to be pretty hot in many parts of the world.

Also, I swear, wtf is going on with the Mega Raids? Do they not keep track of what they did? We just got Alakazam and Gyarados. But it's been how long for Mega Pinsir? Aerodactyl? Kangaskhan? Latios? Latias? Altaria? Manectric? And why are they delaying stuff like Mega Camerupt, Sharpedo, Mawile, Audino, Gallade? It's not like those are very meta. But at least they'd be new interesting additions to spice up the offering at the start of a new season. I hated the last season because they gave it a "theme" and then it's actually like 3-4 events that follow that theme, a few raids and the rest is random shit that grabbed randomly from a hat. If they maybe, idk, gave Gyarados and Alakazam their signature move in those Mega Raids, that could switch things up a little bit. Not like they are the most useful mega anymore. What is so hard about unlocking those moves? I might be taking the month off. It's just silly at this point

Thats the side of things people don't get. I don't use remote passes myself, but I rely on people who do to beat any 5* raids. There's 1 person in my area to play with, rural players just don't have a choice. Elite raids and shadow legendaries are just a waste round here.

I think stale is the perfect way to describe this game. Why? - bonuses are reduced and meh at best - gen 8 doesnt exist to Niantic, and we get about 1 or 2 non legendary new pokemon a season. - Niantic advertises a fun summer with new legendaries, but with all the raid nerfs, why should a FTP person care. I won't be able to use it in ML anyways. - the gbl rewards and research breakthrough rewards are stale. Unless it's a hundo, its catch and transfer. Nothing interesting. - it's extremely hard to play gnl right now because of the lag and frame drops. Im just finding other things to do in my free time. - so much of the game is tedious. Trading, doing buddy stuff, opening and sending gifts. Ive got work, school, family. No time for that anymore. It's a boring game. Factions is the only reason i still even try anymore.

Taking away the guaranteed xl candy on a trade lowers the value proposition of doing legendary raids so i end up doing less raids. You go from roughly 8 XL per raid where you catch the mon to 7 (figuring an average of about 1 extra XL for having a mega evolved). Drops the value by about 12%

I think that niantic is under deflationary pressures because the entire design of the game encourages patience. It's a double edged sword for them. Players won't quit easily because of fomo and they're patient for what they want, but that also means that they're not being as easily pressured to act now and buy this.

I finally made the decision to put the game down, it was bittersweet because i literally started playing the minute it launched. I have played pokemon since we traded cards at middle school it’s just one of those games I’ll always love. Niantic ruined everything for me little by little but this last catch cup was it for me. It was so so so obvious what they did, they wanted us to spend resources. That’s it. They nerfed the f out of charge tm rewards, they released hisu sneasel below 500 so we would spend that 60k when we got it for a second move, rps rps rps all week. Nah they have done this over and over and over again i was like it’s not worth it. I have Pokémon games all the way from Pokémon blue on game boy to the latest on switch. I rather play those when i want to play some Pokémon. I ain’t supporting their bs anymore no matter how long or much I’ve played. Enough is enough.

I can fully relate to what you are saying. Personally, this season I have been playing the least amount of GBL matches ever. Because of the boring cups, boring two-week-rotation, boring rewards, boring move updates and so on. My hopes for a breath of fresh air were, well not high but still there for the upcoming season. All stifled by the announcements made. Not including the guarateed XL candy for trades is the (chef‘s kiss) cherry on top, as well as making Rayquaza appear in Elite Raids instead of making it a Raid Day. It‘s all a big let down

I still grind occasionally and do lots of GBL but the tipping point that made me less motivated to play is when they removed AR catch feature almost two months ago. Very hardcore players would use it religiously. When people are forced to play one-dimensionally like that with how they grind, it is NEVER a good outlook

Dan, I don't think most people try to make master league legendaries. I just crossed the level 41 threshold after 11 months of playing and have resigned to just trying to get as many mega's as possible this next year. I will only do a legendary raids for the dex entry and so that my spouse will set me up in the remote raids for the megas in return. So the budget is like 10-20 a month for casual remote raiding the things that require 5-9 people and the go fest ticket. Your channel and content helped me get to 2200 this my 3rd season of playing Go. The biggest thing left for me to improve I believe is to start building the GL and UL XL pokemon over the next year. Collecting the Megas and treadmilling (Especially this season when raining) is my plan to do it. I will probably never have a level 50 Legendary in the next 5 years, and I am okay with that.

You could get distance pokemon through hatching them and it is easy to get long distance friends. Though I was shocked this season for the xls ( saved over a thousand pokemon to trade for xls)- I don’t confuse their incompetence for malice.

It's another cost but hatching some of the gbl mons can net a good amount of xl candy too. Also theres the tours in February too for grinding. Not the same level as go fest but still better than most of the weekly events.

Huge issue with XLs is the amount you are given for certain pokemon over others. Example, I caught 10 lickitungs got 3 XL candies, but I catch 10 meowths and I got 16 XLs. I feel like the Pokémon that would see play and that you need XL candies for like the legendarys and pvp meta you get jack and maybe shit for them. I get there has to be work put in to finish them and I’m for that, but throw us a bone damn.

There really doesn't seem to be any logical reason NOT to do that bonus this season. XL candy is already hard to acquire, so making it even harder makes no sense. It simply makes people in the game community feel like they'll never be able to fully level up their pokemon and achieve goals. It's time for a change in leadership for a change in direction to make the game better for the community. I love challenges, but I hate being challenged to do something that seems to get harder and harder to do as I make steps to accomplish the goal.

It is so nice that you have mentioned this issue. So, what is the solution? Let us spend 1000s of dollars to travel to in person go fests and reward Niantic for their stupid decisions. Why will Niantic change if top players don't care and they will pay Niantic for even the most useless events and for nerfing the game to the ground. If you want to travel to Japan, US or Europe, be my guest but don't incentivise Niantic for their poor decisions by buying go fest tickets, which are expensive by themselves. Unless Niantic's youtubers don't stop promoting them, we can't expect anything. Whatever anyone says, it is clear from the contents who is in Niantic's pokets and who isn't.

If not trade XL candies, might as well have those boosted chances for Nice, Great and Excellent throws. Sure, doesn't help with the raid legendaries, but at least with wild spawns like Sableye, Lickitung and Carbink, making better throws is an incentive.

The reason spin distance was reverted was because some stops weren’t reachable safely (water towers, landmarks etc) this was the only really thing I feel was reasonable to need to revert because the game was genuinely unplayable when paired with how bad drift was back then. I think that the bonuses of xl candy from trading, 2 special trades a day, and 2 raid passes a day should be baseline but I wasn’t expecting the xl trade bonus tbh I was hoping for the two special trades but these bonuses were never promised sure it sucks that we aren’t getting it but like they didn’t go back on their word. I do wanna see those basic bonuses be permanent but I wanna see them experiment more like the 1.5x friendship bonus was one of my favorites after the 2x raid passes a day.

Yeah agreed. This needs to be a permanent feature. XLs have been out plenty of time now. Guarenteed Xl on trade should be a given. They’re probably releasing some expansion similar to lvl 50 at the end of the year. Now I don’t thibk pokemon levels will increase, but I do think some level 60 trainer levels and challenges will be released. Who knows, if lvl 60 is released with XXL candies it’s been 4 years. Make the trade distance go away for xls. We are almost at the state where you should get one Xl guaranteed on catch without any bonuses.

The increased walking XL chance is also such a massive joke. You should get the XL 100% of the time AS A BASELINE FEATURE, and they won't even make it 100% as a bonus, lol. A bonus would be getting a guaranteed 2 XL for walking. I can tell you as someone who does about 15km a day with poffins, I only get 1 or MAYBE 2 levels worth of XL going from 0 hearts to best buddy for my 20km Pokemon.

your opening sentiments are spot on, they HATE us all. They’re finding new ways to upset us. They ruin all their over games, but luckily for them Pokemon is popular. The raids have been awful for months. The same rubbish & so is the 5 daily limit, but it doesn’t help when you have people like Brandon Tan who backed their raid limits coz he has thousands of people he can play with world wide. The stupid Routes too. I did 9 routes for 5 days and got overall 7 cells, they take the mick.

I think the season bonuses are just that: Bonuses. I don't "deserve" certain bonuses and will just take what they give really. The worst season bonus for you, the 40 gifts one, I loved it. I play in a rural area and it was my way of getting pokeballs. Some people also don't have someone or a 2nd account to trade 100 pokemon a day to farm XLs so I don't feel like I lose anything from them not giving guaranteed XLs this season. I disagree with a lot of what Niantic does and I think they're not always making good business decisions but it really seems like clickbait to just say Niantic hates us because we didn't get the bonuses you want.

I have to say, I am not a fan of Niantic in general, but I don't think you are being fair to them in this case. - Niantic did give us a way of getting extra XLs this season. Increased XLs from buddy. Now, unless this change causes buddies to drop like 10XLs at a time, it's certainly a downgrade and Niantic should have seen that and added more bonuses. - With that said, this change helps people who have NO ONE to play with at all! - They did this during the summer in the Northern hemisphere when the most people statistically are more likely to be able to go out and walk their buddies. - Summer is also the time when folks who can afford to travel are more likely to go on vacation (to a go-fest or otherwise), so finding someone with pokemon that are 100+ km away may be easier for those that do just want to do 100 trades rather than walk their buddy a bunch. - It's also somewhat ironic that you spend half the video being angry at Niantic for trying something new, and then complain that the game is stale. - I acknowledge that these bonuses are not ideal for me as a competitive PvP player with an active community, but I am willing to tolerate Niantic trying some new things here and there to prevent PoGo from becoming too stale. (A bit sad about Rayquaza though, still need 131XLs to max my 6th hundo /flex)

1. You can't give them a pass on the research legendaries cos Yea they don't need to give us legendaries but to your point if they saw it was loved they shouldn't have reverted it. Just bring something better with its own restrictions 2. On remote raids it was a very selfish narrow-minded badly executed idea. What difference would it make for people's desire to go out and explore if THE ONLY CHANGE they implemented was the raid cap? They tacked on a walking distance requiremen to do more battles in GBL but found reason to remove it so do they want us to explore at all cost or not. 3. They could at least dramatically increase the XL candy drop in all eggs, I've hatched so many carbonks and I still can't max one. It's a worse but kinda balanced way of not giving us that bonus but at least give us something because the XL in walking should have never not been guaranteed. Even that, the season bonus is only increasing the chance. They could also quintuply the amount we get of XL by the buddy walking. Not the same but can be done solo and really great for legendaries. They could made it so the bonus doesn't apply to legendary but they don't wanna do work coding. They could do many things but they actively want to scarce XL candy even more, the same reason why we don't have all Alolan Pokemon, the same reason why Darkrai doesn't have Dark Void yet or Trop Kick wasn't given to Tsareena in her community day (Chansey too, although you could argue balance, one day the thing has to have access to Softboiled...) They want to stall and stretch the game content as much as possible except for the inundation of events that are actually very mediocre

I walk it 10km (on a poffin) and even still half the time I don’t get a xl Candy. And any xl candies I do manage to get from raids or premium battles I dump into it but it feels like it’s never going to end

They’re created a real mess for themselves. They want people to go out, but they do nothing with gym upgrade them most of the streamers out there do no gymming at all.Why only one badge say LEADER Wake up allow the competition in gyms!!!

It seems they want you to walk your buddy more to get the XLs rather than trading on bulk, still a bad decision in my mind. You can already get almost guaranteed XLs from walking your buddy if it’s a high enough level. I cringed at all of the 2 week limited cups as well…

Trading for XL only benefits players with 2 acc If your country is tiny, you can't even get XZl from trade. But we do get by. no need tostress

The introduction of XL candy and the limit on remote raid passes single handily ruined the game for me. My goal was to compete in the master league, and that dream is now dead. If they introduce level 60 and I need 296 more xl candies to power up my Pokémon I will quit on the spot

I've been playing since 2016. Albeit casually as life takes over things with family and children. I know Niantics goal is to get people out and moving so PvP is often put last. But I really wish I could play master league. The XL candy kills the game play. I actually have no level 50 Pokemon and I'm a player for 2016. They could do so many things, like offer a LVL 40 league and LVL50 or let your Pokemon auto scale to level50 for master league. But I guess it's always 2nd place to their goals with the game.

The only reasonable conclusion is that Niantic hates making money? I know you argued that they are an AR company but from the remote raids perspective, they lost a significant number of players and lose money daily. From a company perspective financially that doesn't make any sense. Valuing location data so highly that you throw millions in revenue down the drain every year is insane. It's like they are trying to decrease their playerbase and make less money so I guess if that's their goal, good on them for succeeding. Making pokemon unobtainable behind XL candies is one way to get players to leave

When they decided to remove Master League Classic, I was done with this game. I remember when trainers could vote which cup was the most popular. The Kanto Cup became the most popular and ironically, Kanto Cup has been gone ever since….

Even if you´re a free to play player, Niantic still makes money of your location data cuz they are selling these data. That´s the main reason why they nerfed those remote raids

New player here, been playing since June 2023. The rarity to get XL candies is why I'll never get into UL or Master League.

The XL trade decision aligns with their brain dead announcement last year about how they were eliminating classic cups because everybody supposedly had all the XLs they need these days. It's like nobody at Niantic has ever played the game outside of their Silicon Valley ivory tower.

Niantic has had multiple IP's that they have just tossed in the trash. Great IPs at that and they continue to just do bare minimum and destroy their investments. They need to take a look at what they have and actually make a positive change.

The real issue is Niantic's disconnect from PVE & PVP. Instead of making the game more user-friendly for up and coming players to learn how to battle, they've opted to just focus on simple stuff like Pokémon with hats and shiny releases. Pokémon Go is just fast food now. There's no substance because of Niantic. Every video from Sendai I've seen so far have just been about shiny hunting. This is not sustainable content. We need depth.

It was such a fun game and it made me prioritise being active… but Niantic takes the enjoyment of it. By making it hard for the enthusiasts they make it impossible for the casual players. I quit playing a while ago (but some reason this video popped) too be honest I don’t miss it. It’s more disappointment than enjoyment
