Before she entered the palace and stayed there for 5 years. She kinda gives her mother the taste of her own medicine, Niaoniao's mother had to choose between serving in the military or being a mother, she chose the first choice. Niaoniao had a choice to be with her mother or the empress, she chose the latter. Her mother chose loyalty to the empire, and Niaonao chose loyalty to the empress.

In a way it all came full circle. Once the mother abandoned the child. Today, the child abandons the mother. The mother chose the obedient gentle Yang Yang over her own mischievous child. The child also chose the gentle and understanding Empress over her own strict and unyielding mother. Nothing is more efficient than Karma!

Been months since I finished watching the drama, but I still find it saddening of how her mom treats her compared to her cousin, eventho she's the biological daughter. Not even caring how her mischievousnesd is the reason of her surviving in that household without anyone's protection. After separating ever since she's born the mother not only not ask about her days and experiences but instead feed her with anger, she hit her and treat her nothing like the gentle way she treat Yang yang

That's all she wanted to hear from her mom that's she's wanted too. It's time to move forward like the empress said to her let the past stays in the past and cherish the present.

Opposite to what a lot of people felt about her, I've always loved the mother as a character. She's probably the most complex mom character I've seen in a c-drama. There's no black and white with her, she had her great moments and also her bad ones. I think the reason why she had such a bumpy relationship with SS was because they're so alike that they tended to clash. I always hoped they would get on the same page at some point, and they finally did in the end.

I can't stand that so called mother. She was smart enough to see that her daughter was good but instead she chose to give her affection to her niece rather than her daughter that needed her badly.

As a mother of a teenager, I can understand the mom. What she didn’t wanted is her daughter to become a Machiavellian lady. You van see at the begging of the series that she see through SS game and act. If I was her, I’ll try to do the same in order to educate my daughter. The only think I don’t like is how she’s making a big difference between Yang Yang and SS; and how she minimizes and humiliates her daughter in front of people. This is for me unforgivable.
