Hours after watching this, I found I’d introduced canyoning to a nib, but thankfully now I could recognize the issue and corrected it. Whew. Thank you!

how did you correct the canyoning? I did the same to my Diplomat Aero but nothing i do seems to fix it. I think i did it by using a brass shim i think

This is handy (though i love wet nibs). And the canyoning issue explains why your method of increasing wetness in the previous video is superior.

The press down method does work but though I would mention an issue that can arise and should be checked after the adjustment.

A nice video but use Caution. I've done this method before on a gold nib and raised an edge on the top edge of the slit. If you scissor the nib like this to reduce ink flow you need to be very careful about raising an edge on the top surface of the nib slit. Take a piece of 0.001 inch plastic wrap and slide it in-between the full length of the tines before you cross over the tines. This might protect the top slit edge. Another method of reducing ink flow is to lightly, LIGHTLY, pinch the nib wings. I realize this creates a bit of a tiny "V" \ / shape but that's what your looking for. On the plus side while making the pen write dryer it also makes reverse writing wetter. If the reverse writing edge is to sharp, LIGHTLY take the edge to the smoothest side of a sanding pad, the light gray side of the pink grey and white sanding sticks. Use zero pressure, Just lightly take off the edge. I've done this on my Hemingway Montblanc and it writes like a dream on both sides of the nib. Best of luck.....

Well, the disclaimer should be that you'll probably misalign your tines and cause a scratchy nib, it's happened to me several times already 😅

I've tried to use this method on my Wing Sung 699 nib but it is so stiff that it seems it won't budge. Should I just persist and put more pressure on the tines or is there any other method of narrowing the gap?

I have a Nahvalur fine nib that writes so wet the line is more medium. I may give this a try.

This is what I do with almost all pens lol. I mostly use needlepoints and japanese EFs every day. So I want the needlepoint line. Only problem is tho, if you make the nib VERY dry, even a Jowo feed will have too much flow for the nib and drip at some point.

I had a Pelikan 400 roll off the table and landed straight onto the tip of the nib and bent the tips of both tines to almost a 90 deg. angle. After straightening the tines back it writes better and wetter than before, I think I might be onto something hehehe

Similar issue but both are created from different reasons. That's why its important to diagnose the correct issue first so then the correct next step is done to resolve it

How well does this work with flex nibs? I assume that as the tines flex, the little bit of closing you do doesnt matter.

Put silicone grease in the groove. Just kidding, don't do it, it can be a pain to clean it up. I don't think you can (easily) do it.
@Doodlebud
@Doodlebud 10 ай бұрын
You'd have to obstruct the ink channels in the feed to obstruct the ink passages. The easiest thing to do would be to dry a dryer writing ink
