This reminds me of all the time during the 80's and early nineties I spent in Long Beach, CA, sitting in the park next to the Queen Mary while listening to 94.7 The Wave. I was deep in my own thoughts while listening to these fellow saxophonists, playing the instruments that got me a scholarship to college. I even got to meet Najee, and had him autograph all of his albums that I had while DJ'ing during the early 90's at a club I worked at, where he performed a concert. I still have the drum sticks his drummer gave me that night. I haven't played in over 40-years but I yearn to make a sax sing again. God bless you men. The yearn is strong because of this song. 🙏

When I first heard this, i thought; nice but not enough going on.........then I listened closer to Najee's solo. Damn!!! the way he's using melodic lines in a staccato framework is masterful Dancing around the easy, funky groove like it was nothing. I'm a longtime aspiring sax player. I'm hearing some Fathead Newman influence.....it's bad ass!
