I have thought of support for meklords: Meklord Queen Unfuture dark machine lvl 1 2000/2000 Eff: Cannot be Normal/Set summoned. Can only be special summoned from the deck, hand or gy if a Meklord monster with 2000 or more ATK leaves the field. If this card is summoned equip as many opponent monsters to this card as possible: this card gains ATK equal to the combined ATK of all monsters equipped to it.

Summons itself to your opponent’s field, then had an additional effect that could either jumpstart you bringing out an emperor, or grant an additional effect when equipped to a monster by the effect of a Meklord. Or maybe both. I dunno, Meklords need all the help they can get. If summoning itself to the opponent’s field ends up being a bad/hard to implement mechanic, giving the synchro the ability to mystic box/creature swap/Shien’s Spy itself to the opponent’s field upon being special summoned to its owner’s field could be an option too.

You are right. When I was trying to do KZbin. I was working on archetype support. And figure meklord needed a synchro. Here's what I thought. Name Meklord emperor Riser (synonym for evolution also goes with the effect) Lv 8 dark synchro effect atk 2000 def 2000 Meterial 1 tuner + 1 non-tuner You can treat one "meklord army" monster as tuner for this card synchro summon. Target one card your opponent control destroy it, then destroy this card. If this card is in the gy special summon it to your opponent field, then draw 1 card; you can only use this effect of "Meklord Emperor Riser" once per turn.

I unironically designed one like that, that I called Meklord Despair where if synchro summoned it is summoned to your opponent’s field and then it special summons a Meklord Emperor monster from the deck ignoring summoning conditions. I even gave it Kaiju summoning effect where you can use your opponent’s monsters to summon it while treating a monster from the extra deck as a level 5 tuner monster and the other monster used is also treated as a level 5, yes it’s a level 10. I even gave it a graveyard effect that allows it to self equip to a Meklord Emperor monster and is treated as equipped by the equip effect of Meklord Emperor monster.

I genuinely think Meklords are another batch of good support away from being a real threat. Having them transition from just purely *Anti-Synchro* to an *Anti-Extra Deck* strategy was a *good move* , especially with how reliant the meta is on it. Plus they still have a hate boner for Synchros as all their boss monsters gain added effects if playing against them. I just wish they weren't so much of a mess that 90% of their modern support had to be spent just trying to *fix* their issues. Still, they're one of my favorite archetypes in the game and I am glad that they at least get to be a fun rogue deck with an *actual strategy.* If I had to make some additions to the archetype to smooth out the rough edges: A) An actual GOOD field spell that protects your Meklord Emperors and Meklord Astros in a significant way and lets you treat ALL Extra Deck monsters on the field as Synchros B) An archetypeal Pot of Greed ( Ixchel, Orcustrated Return etc.) to increase consistency and fill up the GY C) Maybe new Meklord Emperors, Army Monsters or , hell, just retrains of Granel and Skiel? Because Wisel is just about the only decent one. Even his retrain is more usefull than the other Emperors. D) More cards that help Meklords burn the opponent for playing EX monsters? They kind of had that in the anime and it would make Obbligato's second effect feel less out of place if it was an actual Plan B for the Meklords to just slowly widdle the opponent's LP down.

I feel like if we ever get retrains/more support, they could have the equip effect and atk gain be universal for monsters special summoned frim the extra deck, and each emperor gain additional unique effects if they're equipped with a specific extra deck monster.

Got it! Go second, have Mekanikle and Triskelion in hand and any 3 other Meklords (and whatever final card you might have like Mound of the Bound Creator). Send 3 to bring out Mekanikle, banish for Triskelion, and push for an OTK. If they have Baronne on the field, use Mekanikle to roll over it, deal 1k plus an additional 1k from Mound. Then Use Triskelion to get any ED monster with 3k attack and you're Golden!...Nova. Convoluted? Yes. Hilarious? Absolutely.

Fun Fact: Meklords are actually *pretty strong* in Duel Links' meta as of the time of me writting this. Aporia's Skill *Meklord Refinement* also helps as it basically gives you infinite consistency as long as you have a Meklord Monster in your hand to send to the GY as cost.

I made a variant of Earth Machine that played Meklords, just for fun. While it’s less consistent adding a bunch or bricks in the Army’s and Triskelion, with a good hand it could actually do a lot. Opening Machina Gearframe, doing the usual combo, making Platinum Gadget then summoning Obligato gives you a lot to work with, even better if you open a way to Triskelion. If we ever get new good support, Meklords have some surprisingly good potential. Honestly Triskelion is a crazy boss, but is hard to get out due to the other monsters being pretty bad.

I remember when I first saw meklords introduced in the anime. I was so hyped to see 5-piece multi-part monsters getting implemented outside of just exodia. When they were introduced as single piece level 1 big bosses, I remember being a little disappointed. Several years later in a random daydream, I thought on how they could have possibly implemented multi-piece Meklords. Didn’t care about how viable they’d be, it could be the worst jank in the world, but I thought up a concept. I think what I ended up on was basically something with infinite consistency, but the with the power level being relatively mid to low. Made for a decent balance, I guess. 1. Have the higher tier parts have their anime effects, but also have the additional effect of being discardable to search out the lower tier versions in case they aren’t already on the field. The lowest tier versions could search out the cores, which could have the effect of summoning out the lowest tier versions from hand, deck, or GY upon being destroyed by card effect. 1.5. Dupe Meklord cores in your hand can have the additional effect of being able to be discarded to destroy one card on your side of the field, to proc the Core’s effect destruction floating. 2. Naming. In order to not go through lengthy card text hell on the effects of the core or the pieces, I thought it’d be fair to alter the names a bit. Instead of having the naming theme of “Meklord (wisel/granel/skiel) (part type) (version number)” (EX: Meklord Wisel Attack 1/3/5), which would require every individual card’s name to be listed out on the cores and the higher tier pieces, rearrange the name so that effect text can just list out a portion of the names for the sake of streamlining. 2.5. Cross comparability between emperors. In the anime, wisel had some pieces replaced with those from skiel. As an extension of the naming issue, it wouldn’t be practical for each piece, say, the Carrier, for example, to list out being able to tribute a Meklord carrier piece with a different name, if the name wasn’t “Meklord Carrier” with the emperor type slapped on at the beginning or the end for streamlining. Likewise, it would be inconvenient as hell if you had to list on every card that they would be destroyed if an infinity piece wasn’t on the field, if their naming scheme wasn’t “Meklord Infinity - (Emperor type)” instead of “Meklord (emperor type) Infinity”

In defense to the Chaos Infinity: you CAN use it if you have defense position monsters. If you already set Chaos Infinity, play a face down, activate the trap, use flip effect (if it has any), grab an army (then it was only those 3 originals), go in to Rank 4 ... it works in much slower formats (around early Pendulum era) when special summoning 10 - 50 times a turn was still unusual

Hunter cards are such an odd bunch since they just inherently demand very specific metas to be playable and even then, there’s a lot of bad hunter archetypes like OG buster blader (dragons)and Allies of Justice (light/flips). At least for those examples, they either got better modern support or had choice cards that became sideboard all stars; mekk lords sadly seem destined to do Jack against synchros.
