I have been the owner of 7 ferrets. Some we bought, others came to us as rescues from other owners. They were rambunctious, delightful pets and fabulously joyful little creatures. Every single one of them died of cancer (several different forms over a number of years). Their lights burned bright, if briefly, but I have not been able to bring myself to get any more ferrets since the last died. I just remind myself that I provided them with a home and a life that was in every way better than the life they would have in a pet store or with any other owner. Sometimes that's all we have when a beloved pet dies.

I got to talk to you (literally SECONDS before I had to run out and catch my train), and it was honestly one of the happiest moments of my life. The look on your face really showed how much you cared. My dog died 3 weeks ago when I was away so I know how you feel :( I was very sad to be away when it happened but I'm glad she is out of her pain ( she died having seizures as well )

My dog also died having seizures, but we thought it was caused by authritis medication we bought for him. It was stated in small print on the back of the little sheet that came in the box. We were sad, then absolutely enraged...

My sad story was nearly five years ago, and the news was broke to me at a HORRIBLE time. It was a Wednesday morning I believe, you know, getting in the car to go to school, everything was normal. UNTIL! My mom said to me "Ummm... Sam, Pa (my great grandpa) died last night." When I heard the word "died", my heart sunk. My whole day was thrown off. Instead of being happy and cheerful, I was sad and depressed. I still am heart broken over this. I cherish my memories with Pa and he will never be forgotten. R.I.P. I've watched you for years, bought a pair of your signed glasses, and got your autograph in person when I saw you in Baltimore (just before you dropped the tour like a boss.) You've never ceased to amaze me, and you've been a constant source of inspiration. Very recently my girlfriend and I of 4 years split. It's been hard because she's lived with me all 4 of these years and we're still splitting up everything we bought together. This will be one empty home, both physically and in my heart. Nice Peter , I love the Monday Shows (and all the content you put out), but this episode is just a bit more special. I know many viewers must feel this way, but I appreciate your willingness to be real and out there with who you are and how you are feeling in life with the audience. As someone who has gone through a lot of life changes in the last year and a half (losing my Dad, my divorce, moving to a new town and job), I am thankful for how open you are with us and how, in the midst of some big life changes for yourself, you maintain that positivity for life and the drive to create whilst still experiencing the emotions that come with loss and changes. I lost my dog cookie 5years ago. had him for 15 long great years. since I was 4. hearing you talk about your situation reminds me of mine. I have been with 2 childhood dogs as they died and 1 as an adult. But my cat, who i had for 18 years, through all the hard years growing up, she died under my porch (as an adult) and i didn't find her until the next day. I think that is what hurts the most, is she died alone when she was so loved. It's been 3 years and it still hurts. Pets are so wonderful, they are there for you when you need them most and never judge you, even on your worst days. Just remember what a difference he made to your life and you to his. That's something that will never die.

Glad to have you back. I have to thank you for the semi-sad portion of the video. In less than a week I will be moving to a college that is 10 hours away (driving) from my current home. And earlier today I had to say a (temporary, but long) goodbye to quite a few close friends. I know it's not on the same level as experiencing a death, but I still got a lot from what you said. The type of work I do involves the end of peoples life, more often than not in a traumatic and unnatural ways. When I first started this type of work I was having a hard time dealing with this. The thing that helped me understand and deal with death is reading a lot of book about theories of death, near death experiences and different religious beliefs. You end up believing what you want and whatever helps you understand it better.... I'm sorry about Charlie and I lost a cat that was almost 20 years old and it just killed me... My family gave me Jack about 6 months after and I love him dearly and he is my best buddy...

I know how you feel. When our dog got sick my parents decided that it was time to let her go. They asked me if I wanted to say good bye to her, but since I was living in another town I said no. I couldn't stand the thought of her being in pain and having to wait for me just so I could touch her one last time. It was an awful day, but oddly enough I had a nice dream that night... I dreamt that I met her in an elevator, and when I got off on my floor I hugged her and said good bye. At that moment I knew it was for the last time. The doors closed and the elevator continued to go up. I know it's just a dream but it actually helped me a lot in the grieving process. I like to think that she's somewhere nice right now. And so is Charlie. :)

Hey Peter. It's scary how your events and mine seem to coincide. I had a little white dog named lady and we rescued her from a neighborhood where she would have become a breeder or possibly beaten to death. We rescued her and we did not know that this little dog was very old and had occasional seizures. One day she had one seizure after another and we decided to take her in. Her heart gave out overnight. It was devastating for my family and we've been holding it in for the longest time. This video helped me so much that I plan to actually show this to my family to share your advice with them. Thank you for everything you do and please keep doing it. You rock :)

We have a tendency to project human characteristics onto all other animals and especially the ones we love. With that I just wanted to say that I believe Charlie was very happy in your care despite his sad face. I hope you go on tour next year too! The show in Stockholm was the best thing of my summer. Me and my friend was on a high for several days after, texting battle quotes to each other. Meeting you and Dante was the best!
