And from spirits on high the voice of Max Roach bringing it all home nice & plain & also speaking also for Trane, Rahsaan, Miles, Grover, Quincy, Bad Benson, & one William Kennedy Ellington. A listen of the past 10 + years of recordings by Mr. Payton shows a true artist in his creative prime who's deciding which new different direction his music goes. We music lovers are richer by his refusal to be pigeon holed. Here's to young musicians studying the elders & also defining their own musical path. Just like NP is doing.
