My biggest issue with the jjk fandom is the spoilers. I dont want to read the manga bc i want to watch the anime blind with all the music and animations (i plan on reading the manga afterwards), so I’m waiting for future seasons. But the number of jjk “fans” who spoil is insane. Like, if you love a piece of media, why would you ruin the experience of watching it for someone else? Spoiler culture is one thing, but when a manga become as famous as JJK you can't expect people to stop talking about it. At what point should people stop talking about a series? Oh Vagabond a famous manga should not be talked without marking spoilers in case an anime of it comes out in 2076. Manga is usually treated as spoilers because they are the minority and spoiling ruins it for the majority which is anime only's. the manga is the best version of Fullmetal Alchemist. I think FMA 2003 adapted the early parts of the story far better than Brotherhood. and I'm not alone in this opinion. the old version has wonderful pacing, atmosphere, animation quality, it gets the tone right... and that's hugely important. the early story establishes so many important themes that are necessary to understand, if the later story is going to feel the way it should. if these things get fumbled, the rest of the story becomes much less intelligible. the problem is that FMA 2003 doesn't go to the places that would've made this stuff pay off, since they changed the story. Brotherhood could've fixed this. but instead, Brotherhood decided to speed run the early material. I guess at that point, they figured everyone who loved Fullmetal Alchemist had already read the manga, or seen the old anime, and they didn't need another one-to-one adaptation of the same thing. except now, to me, Brotherhood is an incomplete narrative. you can't just substitute in the early episodes of the old anime because the production is so different, and the new anime has terrible pacing, inserts ill-fitting humor, doesn't put nearly enough focus on atmosphere or subtlety, and even leaves some things out! and the addition of that anime original first episode actually steals the thunder of some late series moments that really deserved to stand on their own, in the parts of the plot where Hiromu Arakawa actually put them. once you get past the parts of Brotherhood that they knew they were rehashing, the anime becomes very very good... because the manga's plotline is the better story between that and FMA 2003's canon divergence. but the manga has it all. it's all the author's intended vision, and the tone, pacing, atmosphere, subtlety, art quality... it's all consistent, and all good. after consuming that version, either anime becomes accessible, because at least you know the full original story. if either version changes something, adds something, or leaves something out, at least you'll know. I think it's a flaw of both anime that you kind of need the source material to contextualize either one of them, but I at least think the old anime is more forgivable, because it was never pretending to be a one-to-one telling of the source material. it knew it was a different story entirely, so it makes sense to take it for what it is, knowing that the manga is different. I know this is a picky take, and it's not to knock either anime adaptation... there's a lot to love about both of them too. I just wish people would give the manga a read. that version of the story really is something special.

Subaru is minimum one Tier above Rudeus. Sure Rudeus is a great character, but Subarus writing is unmatched in the Isekai Genre. People look too much on visable character development. There are a lot more things when it comes to writing and Subaru is just the better character with more depth, complexity, symbolism, parallels, better dialogues/monologues etc.. I hope Season 3 will do Arc 6 Justice, cause i heard it makes Subaru one of the best Protagonists in all of Anime/Manga/Light Novel. Re:Zero Season 3 will overshadow every Anime this Fall 2024 anyway (Hopefully, if White Fox does it justice)

Subaru was an introvert that dropped out of school because of his inability to be himself that lead to him having no friends, he felt shame to not be as good as his father and felt nothing he did was enough, while Rudeus was a grown up man in his 30s that lived like a parasite, didn't even go to his parent's burial and was caught jerking of to his underage niece's picture when he was kicked off (in the LN at least) and still seem to be a creep after the reincarnation with more than a few very cringe moments from him I'm pretty sure (and hope) most people relate to Subaru, especially since Subaru's mental fortitude and values make him someone most people would strive to emulate, Rudy took months or years to get over (what he perceive as) a rejection and is acting like a kid while havingmore than 50 years of experience with both his lives , Subaru get killed horribly and betrayed on the regular and still manage to get back on his feet to do his best, he made mistakes (he's just 17 after all) but owned them and apologized when needed

Started watching One Piece a few weeks ago… decided to read the manga instead. The pacing is much better in my opinion. No offense to the anime watchers. I just don’t have much free time in the day to spend on watching anime. Watching the anime does a good job of portraying the manga, but I can read much more and get further in the story, while also enjoying the original interpretation of Oda’s story with the manga. So far it’s been really good :)

I don't think Attack on Titan's ending is good for multiple reasons: Eren didn't save Ymir in 123 when it clearly was what the story portrayed and had built up since the concept of "Ymir" was introduced. Mikasa was the key to everything even though if you remove her from 90% of the story almost nothing changes. Eren suddenly has this crush on Mikasa that he had not ONCE demonstrated in 137 of the 139 chapters. Ymir being in love with Fritz is one of the most discusting and misogynistic things I've ever read in any story. Historia, the QUEEN of Paradis, who had a whole arc dedicated to her is completely sidetracked for NO REASON. The story is now deterministic, meaning everything that happen wasn't because of what each character wanted but because they were forced to. Eren cries about not being with Mikasa while killing 80% of the world and admiting that he killed his own mother. Oh yeah, Eren kills his own mother, this is like a twist where "Batman killed his own parents in order to become Batman" levels of horrible. Eren expects the whole world to forgive Eldians after the one Eldian that the people on Paradis worship kills 80% of the world. Which they won't, it's more probable that the world is even more against the people of Paradis, even if they can't use the titan powers anymore. Paradis becomes a fully Yeagarist island and yet still accepts the Alliance (the ones who killed their "messiah") into their civilization. The theme about "surpassing the fathers" gets completely ignored, with Eren putting the world's hatred (which will only bear fruit in at least 100 years because of the Rumbling) into Paradis even more. The alliance forgives Eren after what he's done and "wanted to talk to him" and treat him like some kind of hero like he didn't just kill most of the planet, for a plan that will NOT work. Breaking the "Cycle of Hatred", which was one of the main themes gets completely inverted and the story just gives a nihilist view of "the cycle of hatred will never break no matter what you do" which is realistic, however, realism is not why we read stories. Having the story end with the cycle of hatred being broken would be 200% more satisfying than whatever we got. The biggest problem is that the story completely removes Eren's will from him. In chapter 130 (not even 10 chapter before the end), Eren says "Even if it was always decided from the start... I wanted this." Meaning that the memories of the future that he saw were what they were because that's what he would do even without them, they just helped him to make the decision earlier. This is a very interesting view in a time "travelling" story, where the things that the character sees only happen because it's what they wanted either way. HOWEVER, the ending completely destroys this notion, making every decision that Eren has taken into some predetermined action that he had no choice to make because Ymir wanted to see Mikasa rebel against Eren. This is my biggest complaint with AoT's ending, it turns the story that was about breaking the cycle of hatred into one about determinist, which needs a really delicate hand to work, one that Isayama didn't use.

He knew that their beliefs couldn't be reconciled, and that even if he got killed, he would've still managed to protect his friends and ensure peace for paradise for a lot of time. However, he admits that if nobody came to stop him he would've simply continued with the genocide. Not only that, but he's aware that his desire to complete said genocide is what brought about the deaths of Sasha and Hange in the first place.

The amount of interpretations of who Eren even is as a character by the end of the story is enormous, its just not what you want your MC to be by the end of the story. It took me three years, and anime adaptation changes to understand what Isayama was going for, and what his vision for Eren is, although i barely see anyone else seeing it the same way.

The reason why I primarily watch dub is because I just don’t have the time to sit there and read the screen anymore. If I look away for a few seconds I could potentially miss some extremely important dialogue, but I can do a LOT more when watching the dub. As long as my phone is near me, I can get some stuff done and do some work without looking at the screen 24/7 I understand why some people don’t like to watch the dub, but for someone like me it’s just a very inefficient use of my time to watch subs

In a filler arc, nothing of value ever happens, hence its existence is meaningless. And yes, I too think OnePiece fillers suck, but they are neither long, or abruptly halt the story. I remember watching Naruto for the first time, and in the midle of the part where they are going after Sasuke we just get a random filler. And not some 1 episode, but multiple ones, completely killing the momentum of the story. Also, I never judged Naruto as trash, I quite enjoy it as a first time watcher. Don't try to twist my words.

One piece fan here. I am currently reading Egghead. I think One Piece could be much longer. The issue is Toei's pacing. Especially during Dressrosa a great story is being stretched unnecessarily much. Oda should make the Manga as long as he feels is appropriate. Toei should take breaks and make filler in between arcs, so that the anime becomes the best that it can be.

Problem with isekai is that it became a gold mine so everybody tried one, there are like 15 good isekai that actually put their own spin on it and made them good (more or less), but for each one of them there is a 100 mid ones that copy paste the base fantasy isekai while making some small change

Probably one of the better isekai that I have yet to see adapted to an anime has a really simple name of "Release That Witch". Unfortunately whenever I try to talk about the Light Novel with people IRL I always confuse the title with "Burn The Witch" despite having never actually read it. I literally just looked it up and saw it was a Bleach spin-off written by Tite Kubo lol.

Problem with isekais is that they very often have amazing ideas and premises but are often executed horribly, especially the ones getting animated in the last few years. Of course the exceptions of this are amazing.

Cyberpunk was good example of how Peak Dubbed Anime can be, Often times Dubs can come out sounding Corny so to speak but when it comes to Great Cast of Dubbed VAs on Anime with Dialogue like Cyberpunk it can pay off, But Cyberpunk ACTUALLY!! Got the Perfect VAs for all or most all Characters for Dub so thats a special case but theres lot of Anime that actually works and its as enjoyable as Subs at least…
