How to make Glowing WATER! part 2/2 (how to do it)

In this video i will tell you how to actually make the glow effect, anyone can do this with common household items.

and even so, there are fluorescent food dyes available via internet, which are safe for consumption. the highlighter liquid however, is likely to be slightly poisonous. thanks to those dyes I had fluorescent cocktails, which were really nice.

a carbonated soft drink flavoured with quinine, which gives it a distinctively bitter taste. the quinine is what makes it glow blue in UV light.

Tonic water is basically ''sparkling water'' or ''fizzy water'' and yes you can buy it in stores quite cheap.

@XxDarkFangxX92 Here in America it's sometimes sold as "club soda". You can buy it at a grocery store. Liquor stores have it too (almost universally), since it's an ingredient for several mixed drinks. I think it's just carbon dioxide gas and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) dissolved into water. You might ( could be completely wrong) be able to just mix baking soda and water together and get the effect. Or, you could add a cup of sugar and yeast to carbonate it.. Or, go out and buy a bottle :)

a black light is those purple looking lights you often see at arcades of lazer tag places. Tonic water is like carbonated water. Easy to get a liter for a buck at a store.

No, the glowing color is do to the atomic make up of the fluorescing dye . Different dyes glow at diff' colors. A black light emits light at one frequency, 370 nanometers. We can not see the frequency. Yellow light is 589 nm, it will not excite the dye, thus no glow.

vitamin A and B are fluorescent. and should glow yellow. chlorophyll glows slightly red under blacklight. these should be fairly easy to come by, and are safe to eat/drink.

Hey Nick, I hope you read this... I really enjoy your videos! Don't get me wrong, they're great, but for these tutorials I think you could really benefit from a script. It would make the "lessons" a lot clearer, and easier to follow. The tangents are great and all, but you could probably put them into captions Thanks for the videos, and keep up the good work!

There is a very cheap way to get one you know... You know trhose pencils with "invisible ink"? The violet lamp on the other side of the pencil IS a blacklight (I can tell, my brother has one)

i would just cut a glow stick open and dump the fluid in the water to see if that would work because you dont need a black light for that

or you could get a hold of some radioactive materials and some phosphorus unless im mistaken that would glow without any need of a black light for a long long long time.

Nup. Tonic water has a small amount of Quinine in it and that is what make it UV reactive

D'ohhhh , the water will evaporate and the freen thingy willl crystalize on your shirt and glow even more powerful.Just don't sweat to much cuz u will have to wash the shirt cuz it's stinky :P

@tplaxer19 You say that as though it isn't common to have a blacklight. A LOT of people actually have them, especially teenagers/halloween enthusiasts. They're sold all sorts of places and are pretty cheap. You can buy one for 20 bucks at walmart. They aren't that uncommon. So yeah, lots of peple have a blacklight laying around their house.
