This song came up on my KZbin a couple years ago as I was preparing for a trip. The lyrics literally stopped me in my tracks. I immediately had to start the song over and just sit down listening. It was like the song was singing directly to me. You see, my parents separated and divorced when I was only four months old. The last time I had seen my father I was two years old. I grew up in a home without a father's protection and there was abuse and many tears in that void. I grew up in California and after coming to know God in my adult life He started taking me on a journey of healing those deep childhood wounds. It was a time of many tears that dried as God soothed the pain of my past as only the love of God can. The trip I was packing for was a trip to Georgia in order to meet my father for the first time in 32 years. I had found out he was dying of lung cancer that had spread to his brain and this trip would be my last opportunity to meet him in this life. Obviously the many wasted years of separation between us and the pain that brokenness had caused both of us was deep on my heart at the time of packing. This song could have been written directly to me in that moment. After listening to the song a few times with tears running down my cheeks, I felt fully embraced by God and felt a new lightness on my heart. The trip to see my father turned out to be a true blessing for all who where there. God's spirit was ever present, giving new strength to each member of the family present. Hearts were mended all around and when my dad passed 6 months later it was a comfort to know we had finally embraced and forgiveness was all around. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of that trip and the miracle of God's healing grace.

This song speaks to my heart about our estranged son/sibling/friend. 7 years now. I am going to post this publicly in hopes he sees this. This is him. We have all tried so hard to get him to feel our unconditional love for him. A love that never stops. He gave it all up for conditional "love". I never give up hope that I will hug him again and look into his beautiful blue eyes. I will continue to pray and have faith that he will lift his heart out of the muck and come back to all of us. This made me cry & realized that THINGS happens for a reason but its okay & i need to say goodbye and let go. all the pain you have caused me the pain we have caused each other. enough is enough i love my kids i know that and i want better for them.
