This is exactly why I follow this series. I finished this video feeling like I'd learned a lot about a style of music I'm not as immersed in yet. I love these. Thanks to both Nick 13 and Amoeba!

Love Nick 13 he's music is amazing! Tiger Army is the best rockabilly band. The county music from the 30's-70's is the best.

Tiger army definitely isn’t a rockabilly band. I’ll give you psychobilly, but they’re two different genres.

Let's hear an honest review of him. Any 8th grader can say someone sucks and call someone gay for defending the artist. Nothing about Nick 13 is "poser". He's one of the most respected musicians in the Psychobilly community and clearly has a deep admiration for multiple genres of music. True artists never stop digging for inspiration - they never stop trying new things. Like a painter who experiments with charcoal just to see what will come out. Nick 13 is the real deal, I promise.

He's one of the most respected in the psychobilly community? Haha haha. He's literally the complete opposite of that. I'm not even trying shitting on him either.

@The Unknown Psycho actually actually, if you look up any psychobilly band BESIDES tiger army, you will find “people also search for: Tiger Army”. Nick 13 is good at country and psychobilly, especially compared to these “country” artists today. And for psychobilly. Since Psychobilly isn’t SUPER famous among most people. It’s still listened to. And tiger army is actually one of the top listened to psychobilly bands. Alongside Horropops, Zombie Ghost Train, Godless Wicked Creeps, and The Creepshow.

So when he jumps genre's does he have an appointed consultant? I remember back when he was in the "psychobilly scene" it was ok I actually liked it. It was "passing". But when I started watching his interviews in one he'd say they're a psychobilly band that tries to stay in the buddy holly sorta sound then one interview he's "punk" then in another he claims to have never been associated with psychobilly at all or ever said he was. Then at one point his music started sounding like AFI a little. And now he's going country. And in a few songs I notice he ripped music from some newer country songs(which he claims here he's not into) (and that song he ripped the music from is people are crazy)(don't know which nick13 song he put it in but check it out. The stolen goods are there) Hmmm is it safe to say that he's HELLA Hollywood? Now I'm not saying he's a poser or a sellout. I'm saying he needs to find his place in the music world or people won't take him as a serious music artist. I'm not saying he's not talented. He's very talented. But when he started expressing his knowledge on different hillbilly country artists I could tell he didn't know too much or at all. Just a generic description of the greats. Bet he didn't know one of the things that made The Carter Family stand out was Mother Maybelle's unique way of strumming (picking and strumming at the same time). You would think that would be one thing he'd point out instead of June Carter's love life. Which everyone knew cos of the movie. I wonder who on here is gonna get all butt hurt over my thoughts on confused ol' nick13.
@rockabillylaker10 жыл бұрын
So, you're saying artists should stick to 1 genre and nothing else? This happens all the time. Especially if you're involved in a genre that has a million other sub genres connected to it like Rockabilly. You got country, jazz, rock n roll, and blues. Rockabilly artists always explore every genre connected to it. I don't know why it's a surprise he's gone country for a little while. It was evident on all 4 Tiger Army albums that he had his traditional country track on each one.
@KristianMDena10 жыл бұрын
Personally what I think is going on is that he is just going through different genres: that has inspired him and I don't know maybe he doesn't interview very well but I wouldn't give him too much crap because it's been a great musician
@ld1981197710 жыл бұрын
Ya I agree I'd say that's a poser? or get in where you fit in? If you can solely turn a great punk band like AFI emo, then hell why not go from Psychobilly to full on country?
@americandragon294910 жыл бұрын
But didn't Tiger Army do a country song on their first record in 1999?? They did. Kinda makes your whole little research rant meaningless, haha

He reminds me of me, who has grown up through a lot of places and very diverse conditions and who as a result of this has a very complex taste and style. I'm also punk/psychobilly/rockabilly, and have been influenced by Hip Hop, Jamaican music and even Psy Trance a long the way, lol. Hey, people can get very diverse, why the hell not.
