Mitch Gallagher interviews the one and only Nick Bowcott, the newest member of Sweetwater's Marketing Team. Known for his aggressive guitar antics with British metal band Grim Reaper, and more recently as Director of Marketing and Artist Relations for Marshall Amplification, we're excited and proud to welcome Nick as a member of our team. Enjoy the video as Nick tells Mitch how he went from earning a mathematics degree to pursuing a lifetime of music.

11:04 is literally my list of guitar heroes being spoken by one of them! That grim reaper guitar tone Nick has is still one of the best in my opinion! Thank you!

As of 2019 Nick was still giving guitar lessons at Sweetwater. I took lessons from him for a while and he’s a great guy. He uses the guitars you see in the videos. He really upped my game in a few short months.

I had the great great fortune of meeting Nick at GearFest 2016. I was walking around outside and I heard someone playing early Gary Moore songs on guitar. I ran to see who was playing this, and there is Nick playing a Marshall Core combo (still working at Marshall). He was so cool and calm to talk with. A memorable moment. But this video reveals so much about Nick. Total musician at heart. a formally trained mathematician intellect, real world musician experience, and most important, an awesome nice guy!

I got to meet Nick while working for (Guitar Center). He came and did some Marshall amp training for my department back in 2013. Very great and humble guy. I had a conversation with him after about some amps. I didn't realize until after he had left that he was the guitarist from Grim Reaper, a band that I'd been listening to since I was 13 or so. You can imagine my regret at not being able to geek out over that with him, but it was so cool to meet him and see him play his British flag LP(if I recall correctly) through some Marshall amps.

Bowcott had some of the tastiest riffs ever. They weren't necessarily the "heaviest" or fastest, but they always seemed to hit that sweet spot.

Saw Grim Reaper, Armored Saint, Helloween 1987 at a small club on Fort Sill Blvd in Lawton OK. All the bands kicked so much ass maybe one of the last times anybody saw Dave Prichard, was an amazing show I got Nicks pick and still have it. Saw Grim Reaper at the Texas Jam also. The next weekend Pantera played the same club with new singer Phill Anselmo an exciting time for metal \m/ \m/

I really love how metal legends are never the rock star types we think of when we think of rock and roll legends. They're always just regular guys that do regular things and happen to be in a band that everyone loves.

A long shot - I was friends with Paul De Mercado (early Grim Reaper) in the 80's - we lost touch - Paul, if you see this, I have fond memories of 'Maggie' and our 'Adopt a Rezzie' scheme at the Andrews ;-)

the guitarist that got this lefty into picking up guitar and learning to play back in the late 80's soon as I heard see you in hell and fear no evil on cassette . and when I heard the final scream I knew what I wanted to do. then I realized I was lefty. this was time I heard of Hendrix and black Sabbath cause I listened to my brothers vinyl and 8 tracks when I was younger but that time I was not that into music I was just getting into it through grim reaper. and when I seen rock you to hell video and nick playing my dream guitar the ESP flying v looked like it was shortened rounded horns and had comic character graphics on it. I seen he was left handed and that very second I knew I had to learn how to play guitar. So I'm as happy to hear nick is now working for sweetwater as much or more than if I won 600 million dollars in a lottery and being the sole winner.
