His style is so raw and organic sounding, just simply amazing. I love that he’s not overdoing the gain and really squeezes every drop out of every note.

The more i listen to nick, the more i like his playing. So melodic yet so technical
@spyrosv71574 жыл бұрын
I am listening to thousands of guitarists weekly. Nick is the most refreshing one out there. He has a “style” which distinguishes him from the masses. Beyond great technical skills he also has the ability to compose beautiful music which many can’t. Hope he keeps doing what he is doing for many years to come.

He sounds like a jazz fusion blues type player with all the regular chops you’d expect of a typical rock n roll metal guy. I love it, this dude is insanely gifted and talented. That’s honestly also one of the coolest Schecter guitars I’ve ever seen too

My goodness..!!! Nick Johnston is a phenomenal guitar player. I'm beginning to think he is the most incredibly subtle and contrasting player I have ever watch perform. He can go from super touch sensitive playing to hard hitting slammed out power in just a phrase lasting only a couple of seconds. The tone he has here on the first track is new! It is mid range punch and prowess and then delicate brittle tone all harnessed like a virtuoso violinist playing harmonics. I used to think Jack Thammarat was the top of the pile barring Guthrie Govan aside but after hearing and watching this I see Nick is much more thoughtful and in depth in not only composition but feel and technical ability. Another thing is that Strat guitar sounded wonderful and beautifully made. I hope they are not too expensive because I really want that guitar; which is never the way I do things when buying but the tone he coaxed from it is highly addictive!! I now want me some such is the inspiration I got from hearing him play Remarkably Human. It looks like a wenge neck with either a 1 piece neck or an ebony fingerboard either way I want to own it..lol.

He's the best guitarist out there right now and it's not just for his playing - his music is amazing. Proper feels. None of that pointless shreddy shite. He's a proper player. Belongs in the 70s.

I like him more than Guthrie because he seems to write great melodic songs. Guthrie has great technique but I think his song writing can be lacking

Why do people look down on shredding so much? That's also a form of playing bro, music doesn't have to have feel all the time! Sometimes it should sound good!

I fucking love his album but I really can't stand the way he plays it live. This is too much, he ruins the beauty of the melody by playing it off the beat and adding tons of unnecessary playing effects (that trem thing is cringey af).

Nice point. I actually love his live playing, but do agree that he does the "16th note behind the beat, with hammer-on grace note" happens a little too often. I'd still take it over almost any other player in the world though :)
