Lyrics for Fever To The Form
So whether music or madness
We live by one of the two
By one of the two
So go on, fill your heart up with gladness
Not a moment too soon
Not a moment too soon
Should we ration the reasons
Choose a child to ignore
Of this I've never been sure
So I will follow the feeling
And sing fever to the form
All of my fever to the form
Cause the very thing you're afraid, afraid of
It keeps you clean but unclear
Clean but unclear
Is the dirt that you're made, you're made of
And that's nothing to fear
No, it's nothing my dear
But how do I know what you're thinking
Maybe I thought it before
Maybe that's why I'm at your window
Hear me at your door
Singing give me some more
Oh fever to the form
Won't you hear me at your door
Singing give me some more
Cause you were never empty
And we've been here before
Yes, we've been here before
And that was always plenty
Yet still we ask for more
Singing fever to the form

When I fell into depression and fear when I was 20 I found this song and now it has such a special special place in my heart Nick. I picked up the guitar around the same time and the sentence: So wheter music or madness, live by one of the two. Well, over a decade later my choice is clear. thanks Nick and lotsalove.

I've been playing the guitar for a good 15 years now and this is by far the most sincere and clearest lesson I've come across online. Love how you broke it down so elegantly. Thanks a million!

This is an incredibly tutorial, I wish more musicians did this. For anyone still struggling with this, I'm kinda new to guitar so I really need to break it down in writing...here's how and where I hear timings and changes--> Core chords: F, Am, G (always hammering on the G string, so you need to adapt your G chord shape, see timestamp 21:50) Repeat: F x 4 Am x 2 G x 2 -- In context of the lyrics: Pre-lyrcs: Fx4, Amx2, Gx2 (Last G of the prelude played on 'So') So whether music or mad(F)ness We live by one of the (Am) two By one of the (G) two So go on, fill your heart (F) up with gladness Not a moment too (Am) soon Not a moment too (G) soon -- This then changes slightly on verse "But how do I know what you're thinking" which Nick addresses toward the end of the vid. Enjoy and please correct if you hear something different! (PS Nick, if you see this I'm coming to Glastonbury to watch you-cannot wait)

Basic timestamps, feel free to change this: Setup: 0:00 Rythm/Strumming pattern: 10:35 Chords: 20:35 | Guitar Tabs: 24:21 |"Cheat"/minimum version: 33:52 |"hammer on" version: 35:17 Going over it again quickly: 38:24 |"Chorus modification/change": 41:55 (Well technically it's 44:11) | Exception to chord pattern (end of second verse): 47:39 Part 3 ((Outro) Never play F, only D minor shape): 49:52

This song that helped me more than I could have ever hoped back when I was struggling with depression and at my lowest a few years ago just randomly came to my mind today. I have been learning guitar for 2 months on a terrible imported nylon I found lonely in my dad's basement. The low E is virtually unplayable due to horrid fret buzz on that one string. But after looking this up and finding this video I am happy as a peach to know that I can learn it and from Nick himself. Thank you so much for everything NIck~

For the G Major shape, I switch my second finger with my middle one because that way, the transition from the A Minor shape to the G Major shape is much more natural (to me). And of course, on the G Major shape I hammer the G string with my second finger to keep the motif going. Thank you Nick Mulvey for sharing this beautiful composition of yours :-)

One way to play that chord that is easier (but doesn't sound quite as good) is if you just don't strum the base note (6th string) and instead put your index finger on the 2nd fret 5th string, your marriage or pinky finger on the 3rd fret 1st string, then use your middle finger to do the hammer on's/pull offs
