Keith, your understanding isn’t entirely correct. We tried to sell players in the summer but we couldn’t get buyers. Specifically Trippier, Wilson (pre injury) and Almiron. Not only would we have potentially got fees (which can be multiplied by 5 for future transfers) for these players they are all high earners and the saved annual wages (approx £6m Tripps, £4m Wilson, £3m Miggy) could have been used to fund a transfer had we sold 2 out of the 3. Here’s an example selling Miggy and Trippier for even £5m each: Total fees £10m = £50m to spend on players Miggy wages saved £3m = £15m to spend Guehi wages paid for by Trippier wage savings (£6m). By selling two players we could free up in effect £65m to spend. This however is now gone (at least in part). By January we would have already paid half of their annual salaries so the opportunity is significantly reduced. Coupled with that all 3 have likely lost market value as they are not playing. Hope that helps 👍

We are 100% suffering because of our owners. That’s not PIF’s fault though. The premier league have made it clear that they don’t like Middle Eastern owners. This is why us and Man City are targeted. Personally, I feel that this is because the premier league are trying to build the brand and the following of the league in America.
