RollTide1987 That Nick Saban “failed” in the NFL is more of an indictment against the NFL than it is Saban. We’re talking about a workaholic who would pour his life, heart and soul into football wherever he went. I’m convinced Saban could win big at Duke or Vandy. And, he never slammed Miami on the way out. He was dealt a poor hand, forced to put up with Ricky Williams’ drama and not allowed to select his players. And he still left Miami with class.

He would’ve been great in the pros, too, if he had stayed there longer, but he had already realized that he liked college better, though, by the time he left the NFL. Of course, the best job in all of college sports happened to be available at that time, too, so there was really no reason not to go ahead and take it, and spend the rest of his career doing what he loved, winning championships in college. I know most people in the NFL agree that he would’ve been a great coach there, too, if that’s where he had wanted to be. That’s why the Dolphins begged him to stay there, and it’s why he got so many offers from other teams over the years to go back, but I guess when you already have the best job in the world, and you love what you do, there’s no reason to leave. I don’t blame him one bit. Roll Tide!

But if you really think there are fewer hillbillies in 'Bama than there are in Florida, you should probably take a trip through the state sometime. What a douche bag.

As we all now know, Coach Saban is the greatest football coach, at any level, that has ever lived. Some people may never be able to admit it, but everyone knows it’s true. You don’t have to like him, but you damn sure respect him, and that’s all that really matters. The prettiest girl at school is always hated by some of the more unattractive girls. They may come up with other reasons to talk bad about her, but that’s not really why they hate her, of course. The real reason is because they know, deep down inside, that she’s gorgeous, and, sadly, they’ll always be hideous. Your coach probably isn’t all that terrible, really. They all look like that when they play Coach Saban’s team. Hang in there. There can only be one champion at a time, and I’m sure the GOAT will have to retire, someday. Roll Tide 🐐

Yes I agree and just as much media attention at Alabama, Texas, or Ohio St but the revenue from TV and merchandise is in the $400 millions for the Dolphins compared to $181 million for Alabama, and that is gross. Alabama spends more money on programs to help the athlete than any other school. Their average net is a out 48 million, compared to Texas as around 80 million. It's worth it though. We are in the top 20 FBS schools with high graduation rates. Saban cares about athletes getting their diploma, unless they have a real chance of getting drafted in the first 3 rounds, and if a player can and should get drafted higher, he talks about their options to stay another year. Not because it would help Alabama, but because it would increase his initial offer from the pros. Listen to his story about Glen Coffee and Glen's altercation with some frat boys. It's really something. You don't hear guys in the NFL talking about Saban and not caring or making a difference in their life

Let's remember the dolphins wouldn't even let saban pick his cabinet. They gave him very little to work with. That's on the dolphins not saban. Just look what happened when someone gave him full reign. Alabamas win loss record says it all.

For those saying Nick Saban was a shitty coach in the NFL because he went 15-17 in 2 years with the Dolphins, I present to you the worst coach in NFL history. His overall record is 11-44-1 (8-8 with the Raiders and 3-36-1 with the Cleveland Browns) - Mr. Hue “have to watch the tape” Jackson

Two words, Donte Culpepper. Anyone this is all water under the bridge, a coach decides he like college better than a dysfunctional NFL team with no quarterback. This is just a hit piece by the media from people scorned because he left.

He had a henchmen named DR Doom, a secretary was told not to speak to him unless spoken to when she complimented his haircut. He stepped over a convulsing player. I agree with the people in this video: Saban couldn't coach in the NFL. You can't be a dictator that nobody likes in the NFL. You're dealing with pros not kids. You can't cuss out pro guys without resistance unlike in college. Doesn't matter if he got Drew Brees. In fact that probably would have made the situation worse as who was going to be the leader of that team Saban or Brees? The correct answer is Brees. Which Saban probably wouldn't have handled well. What people also fails to recognize is that Saban was hated while he was there. There was a mutiny because he literally stepped over some extremely exhausted player in front of the other players. So the people in this clip are right: He belongs in college, not the NFL.
@jonathanwilliam9806 жыл бұрын
NFL has to much EGO being a leader and coaching up kids for success is way more impressive in my book. In the NFL you just pay professionals to play every year and it really depends on who has the most money and good coaches. Plus college football is way..... more entertaining. NFL overtime rules are suck. NFL clock rules suck. NFL just sucks only thing fun to watch is the playoffs and see all the egomaniacs lose their minds.

Your point about Saban may be true. But that's why I hate the NFL. If Saban can succeed in college, and not the NFL, that 's an indictment against the NFL and not Saban. Miami needs to thank God that they didn't get Bear Bryant in 1970 and got Shula instead. You would have had pros quitting left and right. I can't stand the individuality, the player personalities, the whining on ESPN...the dull, lackluster atmosphere. It's a terrible product. College football is by far much better. Name me one NFL coach better than Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Jimbo Fisher or Dabo Swinney. The name you might go to is Belichick. Everyone who's ever left New England unhappy says the same things about Belichick as you are saying about Saban. More than that, I also believe that Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll and Don Shula would not be respected in today's NFL - and those are among the best the NFL has ever had.

Success in college football is all about recruitment . nick is a great college coach where he is coaching kids that want to go to the NFL , and are from families that see playing for him as the next step in getting to the pros . He goes to the pros where he is dealing with me ,where your skill as a tactician and manager are important , well his time in Miami exposed him for the mediocre coach that he is !
@alexandermatthews1452 жыл бұрын
Nick lied to the Dolphin players and said he's staying then 2 days later he left and the NFL season wasn't even over. Some players on TV said they have no respect for Saban. I think he's a Fucking joke. They said he left 4 days after the season. No he left with the Dolphins still having 2 games left to play.

@@dirty.dan37 Great college coach, but facts are facts. He wanted to leave LSU for the Gators job, but there was a clause in his LSU contract stating he couldn't leave for another SEC school. He was biding his time in Miami and figured Urban LIAR would stumble. Thanks to Tebow covering for him, that didn't happen, so Saban took the first offer he could get in college

Bobby Petrino was a bigger fraud than this guy, quitting on the Falcons with games still left in the season and leaving a note on their lockers, not even talking to players before bolting. Boy this video aged very poorly. Miami didn't let Saban run the program how he saw fit and because of that the project failed and from what we've seen from Alabama they should of let him.

These Saban-haters are still making low-level money while Saban is pulling in BIG money. That's no failure. Second, Saban has done some fantastic stuff at Alabama (hardly a "small" school and hardly just another football program, in the SEC, no less). That's no failure. The Dolphins during Saban's time were crap and the topping on that steaming pile of crap was Ricky who couldn't put down the reefer. That's not Saban's fault and that's not Saban's failure. Like it or not, Saban is the most famous college football coach in the USA. These Saban-haters are still insignificant D-bags. Oh, yea.....Roll Tide!

@brycemcneil44045 жыл бұрын
I'm no Nick Saban fan but I'm not at all convinced he couldn't be a great NFL coach if he returned. When you look at his time in Miami, he didn't do THAT badly (and who knows how Year 2 could have gone if his heart was in it). As is often written about, his biggest mistake as a pro coach was not following his better instincts and pushing harder to sign Drew Brees. It's like Pete Carroll. Everyone thought he was a "disaster" his first time as a pro coach, but you actually look back at the track record, he wasn't *that* bad. He ended up doing pretty good his second time around. Saban is in no way like some of the other people that were mentioned in this original special like Steve Spurrier or Lou Holtz who were completely and utterly lost (and exposed as greater recruiters than coaches) when they got pushed to the pro level. Saban had the chops, he just didn't have the desire for it. In Alabama, he's made more money than many small nations put together and would probably win an election as Governor (Auburn voters notwithstanding) in a landslide if it suited him. Some college jobs (esp. at the SEC schools) offer an opportunity at perpetual success and worship that a pro job will never deliver. At least he told the owner before calling his Alabama press conference. Compared to other wormy departures (Petrino lying to Arthur Blank, Tuberville leaving recruits in the middle of a dinner, Edsall bailing on a UConn charter flight after the school's biggest game ever), it actually seems really quaint to think anyone was even bothered about it.
