@@saythetruth2426 No….holding Ryan Day accountable for losing 99% of his big games, into spire of his obscene level of pay, and his $20milion roster. If it was 1930 and the players were playing for the love of the game, and a scholarship, and the coaches were making a reasonable amount of money (while also teaching) a lot of fans WOULD support the team more….even with a garbage record. Saban got behind Day without taking ANY of Ryan Day’s legacy (OR his $20million roster), into consideration. It makes Saban look like a hypocritical, fool, especially when it’s the fans themselves (one way or another) who are paying that NIL money.

As an ohio state fan, I agree with everything Desmond Howard was talking about except the part about them losing to Missouri (winning bowl games isn't really worth bragging about unless if it's the college football playoffs). I'm still optimistic on Ohio State possibly winning the national championship this year and Ryan Day has gotten more wins during his head coaching career than what most coaches would usually have, but his struggles against Michigan can't go unnoticed. I wouldn't really say it's the top-tier opponents, it's just The Game that he really struggles with. Even when Michigan was a top-tier team the past 3 years, Ohio State's roster was about as evenly good as Michigan's roster and Ryan Day get outcoached by that team every single time and he definitely got outcoached this year. It they couldn't beat Michigan this year with that Buckeyes roster compared to that Michigan roster at home, I don't when he ever will. Michigan might truly has his number.

Jim Tressell didn't win at the clip Day has, his recruiting wasn't as dynamic. But he was never on the hot seat. There's two reasons for that. One is he won a National Title his second year and was always in BCS bowls. The more important reason is because he dominated Michigan. I'm a Gator fan, the fans weren't calling for Tressells job after we decimated them in the '06-'07 BCS Title Game. LSU did the same the next year. That Ohio State vs Michigan game is the best rivalry in college football because of how much that game means. In the SEC we want to beat our rivals, but winning a National Title is by far more important.

Coach Day has earned his skepticism from fans. You don't lose to your most hated rival three out of four and not earn a healthy dose of skepticism. Michigan hated losing to Meyer over and over again--HATED it. Losing to your most hated rival costs you fans, favors and optimism. Win a game. Ninety whatever percent winning percentage isn't enough at an elite program when your losses are in the biggest games you play, including and especially to your rival.

Neil, you seem to forget that when Harbaugh was crashing and burning in his big games and against OSU for years, the Michigan fan base were calling for his head and OSU fans were trolling and saying the same type of thing. They were begging Michigan to keep Harbaugh and saying OSU should pay his salary to keep him there and so on. Then look what happened. Just saying things change, be careful what you wish for.

very sure UM fans saw this season as more successful as say their 2018 squad that won 10 games, played in a CFP game but got absolutely obliterated by their biggest rival. even tho they were barely a 7-5 squad they embarrassed their biggest rival on their field that they planted a flag again.

As a Buckeye fan, I couldn't care less about the national championship. If the Bucks don't beat Michigan, it's a losing season, and nothing else matters. If they would happen to win the NC, it would be stained by the fact that they lost to Michigan. Period. People who are not Buckeye fans don't get it. Ohio State has a 1 game season. If they don't beat the team up north, nothing else matters! They could go 1-11, and if that one win is against Michigan, it's a winning season to most Buckeye fans.

He's had a terrible team for at least 1/3 of those finals, especially 2018 and 2007. 99% of the time, because I record College Game Day, I fast forward through Desmond Howard‘s comments. I recorded this episode of College Game Day and I fast forwarded through his comments. But now that I’m able to watch and listen to them, specifically concerning Ohio State’s head coach, I agree w/Howard 100%. Howard grew up in Ohio, he knows THE game at the end of the year is THE most important game. Something the current Ohio State head coach doesn’t seem to realize, hence his 1-4 record against ttun. Howard you are 100% correct. Everything these other people are saying about the current Ohio State head coach are the very same “lilac and roses” comments that were made about John “the cancer“ Cooper when he was the head coach at THE Ohio State University. His winning percentage against all the “other“ teams made him this great and wonderful coach. To those of us who know the importance of THE game, his 3-8 record vs. ttun made him a CANCER to his teams. R. Day is the 2nd CANCERous coach to OSU football in the last 36 yrs.

Ironically a scUM legend was the only one stating FACTS… the Ohio was coming out of him.. he was talking from a sincere place with love for the brand that is Ohio State and the cultural standard they have even as a rival… Im more annoyed Saban was being disingenuous as if he wouldnt have received the same type scrutiny if he was on a 4 year skid against Auburn.. like stop trying to make the fans out to be like they’re up in arms for nothing. Going 54-3 against unranked opponents and 10-14 against top 10 opponents clearly shows a deficiency in performing well in the games that matter. Sorry but OSU fans are smart enough to not be fooled by the fluff record.

What Nick Saban said speaks volumes of the difference between when he coached at Bama and Ohio State now. Ohio State is obsessed with winning. Now it has turned to desperation. Saban on the other hand tried to get each player to play to their maximum potential. To make everybody better. This is a huge difference in culture. Now you know why one team won so often and the other can’t win a Natty even with great raw talent.
@Android6Thousand
@Android6Thousand 9 күн бұрын
Yes because one team clearly had a better COACH which is what the fanbase is griping about. What Saban is talking about is DEVELOPING players which CLEARLY our current COACH isnt doing very well, Especially coming right behind Coach Meyer who coined the phrased “Developed Here” at OSU. The fanbase isnt griping for nothing. You win Championships by meeting OBJECTIVES. No OSU team has ever won a championship without beating scUM, thats a historical fact and KNOWN objective when CHOOSING to come play/COACH here. And being ranked #2 then losing to a 6-5 team at home isnt a typical trait of a well COACHed team.

If it was 10yrs ago, I’d say Saban is correct, for the most part. However, now that these perpetually-entitled, children are getting wealthy off the backs of these fans, then they have an obligation to win. And, Saban also didn’t say a word about Day’s complete inability to win big games. Ryan Day hasn’t been able to win the one game it was made clear to him, he HAS to win. *So, at what point does Saban acknowledge that the coach/players have an obligation to win….ESPECIALLY, after the record Day has, and the $20milllion roster he has. SABAN HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE’S TALKING ABOUT, OR IS A FLAMING HYPOCRITE ABOUT IT.*
