I have to say, Nick is seriously on to something -- the exact definition of MVP has always been hard to pin down in conversations on who it should be -- but I really like this simple test: *Which player would every other team trade anybody for, if given the chance?* Really brilliant...
@dragonboy141 Жыл бұрын
Until you realize that question entails more than just this year. The MVP is an award for this year, not a career body of work. When you’re thinking about trading for someone you’re not looking at a one year vacuum. Instead you’re looking at previous years resume as well as potential for the future. However for MVP your asking the question, “Who is the most valuable player in the NFL THIS YEAR?” Patrick Mahomes has a longer resume of success than Jalen Hurts, however that doesn’t mean he’s been better than Jalen Hurts this year.

@@dragonboy141 except the idea is that you would trade for the QB for the current year. You're creating a false idea yourself. He never stated you would take into account a players entire career and make a decision. You're projecting. @@JakeDantoni This really strikes at the heart of what the "Most Valuable Player" really is. Should it be the "Best overall football player" award? Should it be the "Best Offensive Player on a winning team" award? (because defensive players never even sniff the award). Or should it be the "Person that brings the most VALUE to their team" award? There's no objectively "correct" interpretation of what the MVP really is, and I think that's why there'll always be arguments about it.
@CAINE1984 Жыл бұрын
@IanMS00 No, you're right also. Bosa has been pretty valuable to the 49ers. Hate Dallas but can't deny Lawrence has been a beast. I've been an Eagles fan since I was a kid. Hey, look, if you wanna give my QB the award, I'm not fighting you on it. But it's so subjective and hard to nail down. BUT.... If we're saying it's a boat race between Kermit the frog and Hurts and one of your metrics to give it to Hurts is, "how Mahomes-like he looks" Then it's probably owed to Mahomes. 😆
@davidokinsky114 Жыл бұрын
I am an Eagles fan also, so I could be biased, but I could make a few arguments about his rant. BTW Nick Wright is also very biased. 1. He conveniently left off scheming and coaching off that list. I like what coach Sirianni and Steichen are doing, but coach Reid and Bieniemy have a lot more experience at the least. 2. The rest of his list, the teams are close besides running backs. Eagles have a much better running game, but the argument there could be that they have a better running game because of Hurts. 3. The Eagles are playing better than the Chiefs. They have a better record, so you would assume they would be better on his list. Side Note: Mahomes does a lot of fancy things that look crazy when he play, like throw no look passes and that sky hook in the last game, but Hurts has been next to perfect all year. Three INTs all season, and I believe only one was his fault. Two were not his fault at all, as the receiver popped it up after hitting his hands and the that was his fault was a deflected pass. The game against the giants, the only ball he threw that didn't hit his receiver, because Brown didn't run the correct route.

My problem with his argument is volume. Mahomes has that many yards because he has thrown it like 200 times more than Jalen. He also has almost 4x the amount of interceptions as Jalen. So Jalen is winning with less. Part of that is a team thing because Mahomes has to shoot out every single team. But Jalen does exactly what he needs to win nothing more nothing less. Last week part of the chiefs issue was Mahomes. Mahomes can lose you a game because of errors. And Jalen so far has not done that.
@apecentury228 Жыл бұрын
@@TheOdin822 Yeah but if Jalen did make errors, then his team could carry him unlike the Chiefs. Therefore, Mahomes is more valuable
@AddMiller221 Жыл бұрын
The volume argument works in Mahomes' favor too though. You could say that he has to throw and score that much because, if he is doesn't they lose. The Eagles' defense and other offensive players take the burden off Hurts so that he doesn't have to be awesome every game and they can still win. The Eagles have won multiple games with Hurts throwing under 200 yards. It is unlikely the Chiefs are even in the game if Mahomes goes under 200.
@mattheweble5550 Жыл бұрын
No it wasn't. He didn't mention that the losses that the Chiefs have, Mahomes is responsible for every single one because of bad decisions. That counts. Not saying Mahomes is bad, but he was getting yards regardless cause, oh yeah....something else Nick didn't mention, Mahomes has the better coach who happens to be extremely pass happy. Stats never used to matter with MVP. If that were the case, Marino would have been king in the 80s. Nick is a homer. With Andy Reid there, you can put in whatever qb and he's going to find a way to win. It might not be as pretty, but they'll win. The offense for Hurts is designed specifically for Hurts. Mahomes is having a good year and it'll be interesting to see who gets the MVP, but nothing Nick Wright says is relevant for the simple fact he isn't objective and unbiased when it comes to the Chiefs and Mahomes.

While he has more turn overs, he has also carried his team because he has to. Hurts does not have to, his team is stacked. He's been great though. Also, the NFC is a dumpster fire. I’m starting to really think Nick Wright knows less about football than most people dudes better at poker than he is talking football😂

Tua/ Herbert are 1-1 against each other. The first game in Miami Herbert only threw for 187 yards. Forgot to mention all that guys, but w.e

There is no Herbert vs Tua rivalry. Herbert is clearly far better than Tua.

For no apparent reason other than he is a big white man, and he is used to what you usually see.

@@alf1380 because they film them when they play the game and if you compare their film against each other one outclasses the other dramatically. Gotta stop trying to make things about race.

Is Nick Wright the love child of Kylo Ren and Tom Green?
@kalel503 Жыл бұрын
My only issue is Nick killing Josh Allen for turnovers every week. When Mahomes has the same amount of interceptions. So Hurts lack of picks deserves a shout

Who knows what Mahomes would be without Andy Reid?

Yup Reid made Kevin kolb a probowler for gods sake

Two has two bad games and he's a substandard qb? Herbert has had several bad ones, and has a career filled with elite receiving talent. Nick is Wrong.

It's official. Nick has fallen in love with the sound of his own voice.
