Yup, I'm probably the one who wrote that those motor wire covers loose adhesion. It happened to my Chimera 7 on both front arms. Don't know if it was because of the summer heat, vibration, dirt and grass getting in there, hitting branches, bad sticky tape iFlight used, or all of the above. The rear wire covers never came off. I just built a Flyflish Volador 5 and it came with those covers. I'll see how long they last. Anyways, I always appreciate your views and reviews. And it's nice to see you flying something a little bigger this time. I love 4 inch quads and long range.

The tune looks pretty nice for a lr drone. Where I live there is lots of space to explore so this is my kind of drone. With the gps up like that an inbuilt compass will work much better for inav but I would ditch the mast and stick the gps to the topplate. Liion like that you can take to 11v, that's under 3v per cell! After that they sag out fast and you must land asap. O3 has 20gb of built in flash storage for footage. Great review! 👍

I currently have two LR quads. Both are M8 modules and both take forever to get enough satellites before taking off. One is the Diatone Roma 4 and that thing shipped with gps disabled. Diatone had so many issues with that quad that they shipped it with the gps turned off. I have been messing with it for 3 years making every modification that I could to get it to connect quickly, and it still takes 10 minutes to lock. I have purchased the Tern with the hopes that I can finally fly an LR quad and get quick consistent locks! My other quad is a DarwinFPV 7" that gets lock after around 3 minutes. I would like to find out what DJI does to get lock in less than a minute. I own a Mini 2 and 3 and these things lock within seconds and work excellent!
@NickBurnsFPV6 ай бұрын
I wonder if dji has some sort of gps preload they put on all or based on region. This is about all I can think of to speed up the gps lock process...but I am far from well informed on gps.

Exactly, I thought it important to state subsequent plugins would be fast for those that might not have experience with GPS.
@flat-earther Жыл бұрын
hi phiveone, do you know how does a GPS module get it's time synchronized? Because if I comprehended right, the satellites send a signal with their position(coordinates/location above earth) and exact time of transmission, and the receiver receives this signal and compares the time of transmission to the current time to calculate how far the satellite is(the more time difference the more far the satellite is, and vice versa), but if the receiver doesn't have synchronized time how can it know how long it took for the signal from the satellite to be received?! Also I have another question, how can a satellite that's moving know it's own position over earth(coordinates)? Wouldn't the satellite need to use a fixed reference on ground to know it's position? Also how does a warm or hot start help a GPS module get a lock faster? Because between the first cold start and later having a warm or hot start the satellites the module already has in it's memory could have traveled so far they are out of sight so it would then be a cold start again. -- People say that if you want to have a GPS lock faster when you need it you should first turn on your GPS(at home for example) for it to go through a cold start which takes the longest time to obtain a lock and then with the GPS unit's small battery it remembers certain information for a certain period of time, information like it's last location, satellites it discovered, and synchronized time. And later when you are out in the field and turn the unit on again it will go through a so called warm or hot start so it will get a lock faster. I think that would make sense if the GPS satellites were stationary, but I don't get how it works because allegedly GPS satellites are constantly moving(they are not geostationary), so when you went through a cold start and say 6 hours later turn on the unit again and have a warm or hot start, the satellites the module already has in it's memory could have traveled so far they are out of sight(behind the alleged globe) so shouldn't it then kind of be a cold start again? At least from the aspect that the satellites it remembered are not visible anymore. What do you think?
@mike8984ify9 ай бұрын
@@flat-earther The orbits of GPS satellites are precisely controlled and known ahead of time, before the satellite is even launched. They can calculate the atmospheric drag and any other factors that would alter the orbit and adjust for those. Even if it wasn't done that way, you'd still be able to have a network of fixed ground stations and then reverse engineer the satellite location based on where they say the ground station is located. As far as memory, if it remembers a satellite that it can no longer see, then it just drops that satellite. Even though it can connect faster with the memory, that doesn't mean it still doesn't receive the GPS signal. Yes, if you wait enough time for every single satellite to be out of range, then it will act like a cold start. Nothing weird or unexpected about that.

Nah... that Li-Ion flight time isn't representative. You can safely bring those batteries down to 2,5V in theory but at least down to 2,7-2,8V in reality. After 3,0V the battery starts to drop noticeably though & the punch ability get really bad... but if just cruising you still gets minutes of flight between 3,0 & 2,7V. Get 20min+ from my Avant Quads Ciro 4 LR with the same battery... even though I have tri-blades, a camera tilt of 30 degrees & cruises in 60-70 km/h. But the Tern seems to be a bit heavier... so that might shave off some minutes.

Compass ideally needs ~10cm clearance from electromagnetic interference. My 10" will yaw +30°(throttle dependent) while holding original heading when gps/compass is mounted directly on frame.
