FYI the 30+ km range test was with the 2.4ghz ExpressLRS system, on only 100mw! The 900mhz version should go further, on the same power setting... and the HM module can go up to 1W (hence that heatsink)!

Hay Nick, any advice on a drone suitable for indoor flight and low wind flight outside. I’ve seen your review on the mobula 6 and I really like the look of it. Have any new drones come out since then that you would recommend over the Mobula?
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 3 жыл бұрын
At this time I am still recommending the mobula 6 for a balance between cost and performance. The AE65, has a better canopy and camera, but costs more and has a new GNB27 battery connector, which is better than the ph2.0 connector we have been using but if someone has a bunch of PH2.0 batteries that connector can be a barrier. This is the AE65 bit.ly/3dvdNKl

@@NickBurnsFPV thanks Nick. Final question sorry, Is there a big difference between the 2 in terms of flight time that could justify me spending the extra money?
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 3 жыл бұрын
@@jackhoughton8868 The flight time difference between those two is minimal, but down the road the mobula 6 will need a new battery led as they break down, the gnb27 connector should continue to work well for a substantial period of time. For better whoop flight time I suggest getting a mobula 7 frame and 40mm props, this will allow for bigger batteries and 40mm props are more effecient. Or you can buy a moblite7, but it has an exposed main board, which could be covered with some foam tape or something to protect it.

I just bought the 915 version, I've used my QX7 before with crossfire, do I need to flash Express LRS firmware to the QX7? I also bought Sharkbyte, all for a new build. I haven't been keeping up for a few months, it sure doesn't take long too fall behind. 🤣
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 3 жыл бұрын
We don't have to flash the QX7 to make it work with ELRS. We may have to flash the current opentx if we want to use the 500hz packet rate. 500hz packet rate is a more recent opentx feature. We do need the elrs lua script on our radio sd card in the tools/script directory. We will likely need or want to flash the elrs equipment. Most of the elrs equipment has wifi, which turns on after 30 seconds of power. There is also an elrs configurator we need to build the firmware flashing files, we can also flash from the elrs configurator.

I bet tbs will be taking a look at the code and implementing whatever they can. Trappy won't take this for long. From what I understand they coded it so that chanels 5-8 are set to just a few points instead of 1000-2000 and that's where they're getting a lot of range since it doesn't need to send as many packets in a transmission.

At this time I don't know if it can be changed. I see in the radio we can change other settings like packet rate and mw, I suspect there could be a method, but might involve flashing the hardware which defeats the purpose of HM brining this to market. But I will check with them. From my reading and the testing I have watched Expresslrs is faster and has more range at all power levels.

Pretty hard to find a complaint on ExpressLRS, The hardware I have is working fine, but you know me, I am not pushing the limits. While the quad I have it on, I don't feel a latency difference, need to get more hardware and see if I can feel it on a more aggressive quads.

At this point I am unsure of the hardware limitations and MHz. On the hardware in this video we can change the packet rate and power mW. I would expect we at least would have to reflash to go 868MHz.

While I don't directly disagree, the LR competition will surely mean more and more development. Both in LR and protocol speed. The one counter point that will likely continue will be how "trusted" should it be. IMHO that is an individual comfort. I do think this will likely dominate the micro quad world.
