Hey Julian! It can be a struggle to get the adjustments off in time, but if you practice "quick adjustments" then it's certainly possible. If you're clicking around to each player to make each adjustment though, then I definitely think you'll have a tough time.

I have found that if they are quick snapping its likely a run or obviously a pretty stock pass play so sometimes you dont even need to get all the adjustments off in time. If they are doing any changes pre-snap you will have ample time to get the adjustments made

Wow! I never knew about the "weak box" thing! No wonder I sometimes get ripped apart by the run when I'm using a formation with three down linemen! By the way, does "weak box" happen if you do QB contain?

Hey man! Weak box is entirely based on either 1) the formation you come out in (Dime/Dollar/Quarters) vs the formation they come out in (whether it's a heavy set) or 2) the number of defenders on a blitz assignment, and QB contains would be considered blitz assignments. So as long as you have at least three players on blitz/contain assignments and you're not in a formation that will get weak boxed vs a heavy set, then you have nothing to worry about!

Great video Goose! On your redzone defence, how do you quickly switch your user assignment? The stock assignment is for the MLB to be manned up against someone (usually RB), but I see your final play has them blitzing with the LOLB man assigned.

That's a great catch, and something I should've mentioned in the video! Unfortunately there's no secret trick other than quick adjustments (double tap right on the d-pad and select the linebacker to put him on an individual assignment). Although honestly with the rise of scrambling QBs right now I'd recommend putting that defender in a QB spy rather than manning up the TE. The flat zones are out there for if the TE goes to the outside, and if he comes to the middle you can guard him with the user. I'll probably have to make an updated 335 Wide Ebook because I've tweaked things a bit over the last couple months!

Hey man! In the Nickel 335 formation, sub your safeties in at all three linebackers spots. Call a play in 335, and then when you break the huddle, audible to whatever play you want in Nickel 335 Wide.

I actually think it's better for current gen than next gen! Run defense can be tough though. Have you seen my video from last year on gap shoots? Against heavy run formations I would probably run something like Big Nickel Over G and try to gap shoot up the middle (pinch the d-line, slant them outside, stand two yards above the center with your user and then come through the gap).

Goose you are totally right. You actually can stop most runs with 335 wide gap shoot technique. There are a few inside runs that are tough to shoot but overall it works well if you practice.

Hey Drew! Five yard flats will (in theory) play the RB in the flat and also cover the drag once it gets across to that side of the field. If you want to guard the drag over the middle, you'll need a yellow (hook) zone for that.

I should have mentioned it, but either of the blitz setups also end up being pretty good run defense. Gap shoots are too risky to attempt on next gen in my opinion, so you can just move your user laterally to match the direction they're running

Another good question! I like Cover 2 Man because it gives us the option of leaving the slot CB manned up on the inside WR or TE (which if they're on a streak could be a major threat to a Cover 2 shell), also because of the man alignment your opponent is likely expecting man coverage and will put man beating routes on the field, but you're actually playing a blanket zone

Hey man! Match coverage is a certain kind of coverage where the defender assignments depend on the routes the receivers run. A simple way to think about it is that it starts off as zone and turns into man coverage. Cover 4 Palms & Cover 4 Quarters are both different versions of match coverage, while Cover 4 Drop is a true zone coverage.

Defense feels nearly impossible this year because zones are SO BAD. They hardly react to anything, and when you finally do have someone in the right spot, it feels like you always drop the pick lol. So definitely be prepared to give up a decent amount of points, but I think this defense gives you a great chance of coming up with a few stops

Hey man! You are correct that the blitz will come in even if you don't spread the d-line. However, what I've noticed in my games is that if your opponent tries to immediately roll out of the pocket, the contains perform much better (as in they actually contain the QB) if you spread the d-line. So yep, the blitz will come in either way, but I think spreading the d-line makes it a better overall defensive setup!

Hey man! Setting a zone drop will tell your defenders in those zone types to drop to exactly that depth. So if you set "flats" to 25, then all hard flats, cloud flats, and soft squats will drop to 25 yards depth and sit there. Does that make sense?

When I made the video I felt like spreading the line helped it come in better, but the game gets tweaked over the course of the year so it's certainly possible that pinching is better now. I'd say try them both and do whichever one is working better!

I mostly just leave it on default. I think the only time I base align is against Gun Bunch TE (seems to help guard PA Boot Over better)
