In this video I'm going to make Nickel Electroplating solution using pure nickel anodes and household items such as Vinegar and table salt. Then i will show you an example of the actual nickel plating process using DIY phone charger and USB cable as a power supply. Not only it protects metal from rusting, it also adds a unique character to your parts. Remember to use low current and voltage ( like AA Batteries even) for better result.

To get that nickle shine . The copper piece needs to be shinny ? . The voltage should be 3-6 right ? And just dip it for a couple seconds ?

Unfortunately, almost nothing is pure enough for this to work. We need at least 98 percent pure nickel for electroplating. Everything else around us has a thin nickel coating, and that's not quite enough. Pure nickel is relatively cheap in small pieces. But as far as I know, you can find nickel in old door knobs, old coins, and battery packs (strips that connect them together), but I wouldn't recommend it because it's hard to identify nickel.

With the nickel solution. If I adding a diamond grit powder and stir it up, would it adhere to the coin as well

In the row, you said the objects get proper pre-coating first... Does it work if objects have pre coated with primer coated spray can...? Or just a raw mat objects...?? Cause I have plan to coat bicycle chrome dropbar who have a little rusted... 😁 Thankyou...

Basically, the material that you tend to plate should be metal. won't work on paints and primers. There are methods by which you can plate non-conductive parts by applying conductive paint to the surface prior to electroplating. but it's so complicated and not durable at all. I think you should sand it to bare metal first, then start electroplating.

Yes. But to make the solution it will be Way more expensive though.

Nickel particles are going to be quite small for a normal strainer, and they will slide through. Unless you use a pretty small mesh, yes, there is no limit. Also, you can cut down a face mask (we all have them around) and use one of the layers as a filter. Works magic

Basically, it can be performed directly over copper, iron, stainless steel, brass and a bunch of other alloys. Also, it can be done even on plastics if the object gets proper pre-coatings first.
