I would like to share my story about Nickelback and their impact on my life. 2001: I was in daycare in the car and heard ‘How You Remind Me’. From that day, it was stuck in my head forever. As the years went on and I got internet access and an MP3 player, I found myself always listening to Nickelback. As a 6 year old with many family problems, their music matured me and gave me direction. As I started to understand meaning in words, I found the meaning of ‘Too Bad’. It seemed like they knew exactly my struggles. Fast forward and I found myself going to shows with my mother in New England. The shows were amazing and gave me something to look forward to. At 17, I went to Japan to see Nickelback at Zepp Namba in Osaka. It was incredible. Then in their ‘Feed The Machine’ tour, I was given the opportunity to meet them through contacting the band in various ways. I sat front row and begged my mom to toss the tickets on a credit card in which I would pay her back. I got on stage and sang next to Ryan Peake and Chad Kroeger. I love Nickelback so fucking much. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

Actually a lot of people dont like Nickelback because of their frat like antics and disregard for a more artistic approach to their songs. However, they are anthemic and anthemic bands are not driven by art. We also dont like anthemic bands because we find them artistic but rather they have the ability to make you dance and forget for a while. I would actually compare the hate nickelback has to the hate that most dubstep suffered back in its heyday, and especially now. I like them both.

Most of us just dislike them because they have juvenile lyrics that detract from their musical proficiency. They'd be good if 90% of their songs weren't riddled with anthem-centric chords and lyrics that sound like they were written by a Chad frat douche. A true rock fan wouldn't enjoy this shit.

First time I saw Nickelback was in 99 when they opened for the Headstones, killed it. Again in 2001 opening for Everclear. They blew the roof off the building as the opening act putting Everclear to shame. Love these guys and this is what rock and roll is supposed to sound like.
