This is a very interesting topic. Hopefully the game is found someday

UPDATE: Someone just came forward who remembers playing the game. Here is his testimonial: "I felt as if I was the only person to remember this. I believe this was exclusive to AOL, which I had, and it wasn't really much of anything as it never truly ran well. It was ahead of it's time, and equally behind the times. I actually have a pretty good memory of the studios part. First of all, it took FOREVER to load. It was all done through AOL, and on 14.4 modems, attached to old 486 machines. You need to understand that the technology they programmed in was well ahead of it's time. Basically, the studios was rendered in chunky, 3d shapes, with some logos attached here and there. I don't remember a lot about the 'game', but I do remember there wasn't much game to it. It was really just a way for people to virtually be at the studios and take a virtual tour. I think the different rooms had different games, so like the gak kitchen had something where you would toss gak into a bucket, etc. Little stupid games like that, which really only served a purpose of making you move from room to room."

I too remember the nick.com VRML, and have been trying to locate it for many years! I don't recall any 'games' associated with it, just that you could walk around the exterior and see images of Ren and Stimpy and other characters/logos on the exterior. The image you used in the thumbnail for this video is EXACTLY how I remember it tho, and I'd be very curious to know where you found it, or if there are other websites trying to document this piece of lost media. Thanks!

It wasn't AOL exclusive, by 1997 I would have been using a Netscape plugin to open VRML pages. It wasn't a game, but just exploring the studio. It was literally a 3D version of a webpage, click on the Ren and Stimpy door and it would open the Ren and Stimpy page. Clunky but fascinating at the time. Similar to recent pitches for the metaverse where you shop in a virtual walmart by putting virtual items in a virtual cart, it was a slower way to do something that already existed.

I got to go to Nickelodeon Studios in 1990 - 2003. It was like a dream to be there! And it was very cool, I saw one of the Double Dare set up in soundstage 19 to the left. I even got to see the Audition room. Then I return in 2002, and the tour was shortened, even though it still look cool! I’m glad I eventually went to the studio. Perfect video Ethan! :)

I played this on my stepdads work computer. I was quite young but remember being frustrated that it wouldn't work at home.

Can you tell me anything else you remember about the game?

Stopping by to add my two cents. I remember this, and was just searching for this incase I could suggest it to Flashpoint. I remember Double Dare and a whole tour of the studios, with shows setup that were relevant to the time. But I also remember it might've split off to an odd bit featuring ancient Egyptian motifs, like Sphinx statues, against a wine red sky? I did very few VRML back then, and my other major VRML thing was Dilbert, so I have no doubts it was attached to the Nick game. Still.

This reminds me of one of those old roblox remakes of Nickelodeon Studios around 2007-2013
