This track makes me so emotional. Everyone has their favorite singing+rapping/or Vulnerable track from Nicki but this actually might be my favorite. I recommend a reaction/rewind of Your Love and her feature No love with August. I understand why shes saying she lied to keep her from a broken heart . Depending on who the person is .. once you let them know how in love with them or how much you rock with them , sometimes they start to change . Especially some guys , they think " oh i see how hard girl is for me so theres no need for me to pursue her anymore because i got her " & they stop doing things they did to actually get us . Us as females want a man to always do that & once they stop its like , damn . We start to feel less than now cus he really aint doing nothing like he did before he had me . . Idk how else to explain it .. i feel like my females would understand what im tryna say 😂

I think the point of the song is to question wether she’s lying to herself or to him. The answer to this is that either way she’s lying to protect herself. It’s a level of self awareness : it’s my ego. “Miss the D yo” as a way of trivializing the attachment. It’s much easier to say I miss the sex to say I miss you as a person.

Okay this comment is a year late, but I had to pause @9:46 and tell you what I think. Imma Sagittarius like nicki. She talks about that stuff so I’ll tell you my interpretation of “I thought you’d let me go, that was my insecurities and my ego”. Her insecurity was fear that he’d let her go, but at the same damn time she had the confidence and ego to think that he’d let her go when she outgrew him or outshined him. Maaan being a Sagg is tough. We have high confidence in ourselves, but we have that soft side that needs recognition of a job well done. That’s why her next lines were kinda regretting letting that supportive guy go. Us Sagittarius’ think we got it all figured out lol. But at the end of the day, we’re craving that soft snuggly hold
