WOW! After just a few rows to try it out... what a difference! I don't understand why the "chain one" before turning your work ever became the norm. This looks so much neater! THANK YOU!

This is my all time favorite video along with alternate the turning stitch. First it makes edges so straight and second I never have a hard time finding where to put my last stitch! It really has made my crouching much less stressful!

My goodness 😮 I’ve been looking at all teaching beginners channels and I love you❤ also the fact that you started right from the beginning was very helpful too!! Others have crochet few rows and … honestly!!! This extra changing would also give me extra stitches. I’ll start with 10 and few rows later I’ll 12 or even less at one end!!! I’m so grateful for teachers like yourself🙏🤗💯🌹

I have NEVER needed the bumps at the end of a row to find the last stitch! Crocheting a border will conceal those bumps as will stitching the pieces together.

Thanks for the tip! Would love to see a video for the half double crochet. I was taught to chain 2 for the hdc, so are you saying I should not chain at all, or to chain just 1? I was also taught that the turning chain counts as a stitch for the hdc (unlike for sc). Is that still true if there's no turning chain?
@mariakristinahawl1640
@mariakristinahawl1640 4 жыл бұрын
If you count the turning chain as the HDC, you won't get the bumpy ridge.

Thank you, Nicki! This tutorial was very helpful. I'm a perfectionist, as well, which can make life a little more challenging sometimes (lol), but I really love how this simple step of not crocheting a turning chain eliminates the zig-zaggy edge on single and half-double crochet rows. I will be using this method from now on. Bravo! 👏👏

That’s exactly how I do my straight seams I don’t chain one because as you said it leaves a bump so for sc and hdc this is what I do. However I’m still working out what is the best for a dc haven’t found one I like yet

Haha! I've been doing that since I was a kid simply because I thought it made better sense! I didn't like that holey business at the end of a row -- especially when it comes to double crochet. I chained two and call it a turn, going about my business.
