I been journaling a lot over the past few months and have found it very helpful. I appreciate you responding to me when I last commented. I did not expect that. I been alone approx. 7 months with my dogs in an old camper trailer. I start every morning by getting out of bed and sitting on the floor petting my dogs while telling them how lucky I feel, I meditate, walk bare foot in the grass everyday, write and cook. I am finding many benefits to this. I very much enjoy and find benefit in your videos. Thank you so much for making these videos.

The Shadow journal is very eye opening. Being critical of yourself and acknowledging that you have certain emotions, is a good way too develop emotional intelligence. Being critical of yourself in a realistic way can guide you to accept yourself for who you are, and show you the space were you need to change.

As you went through the journal ideas, each seemed beneficial. I was relieved when you gave permission to create as many journals as desired. I’m retired and committed to becoming a better me. I’m grateful beyond words to have been spiritually prompted to Google Buddhism and find you. From day one I’ve been devouring your KZbin messages and learning as much as possible. I’m committed to spend as much time as necessary to apply Buddhist principles in my life and practicing. My appetite for learning, absorbing and internalizing all that you offer is insatiable. I often listen to the same message more than once so that I don't miss anything. Thank you a million times over for devoting time to the growth of others.Everything you do is greatly appreciated and I’m always looking forward to your newest session as I work through the past ones. I’ve been a subscriber for about a month.

Journaling is just so extremely powerful, we are like the internal concepts of pyramids and shelving begins at one level then filters into the deeper layers, unravelling and unearthing at the core. So much is exposed and deep realisation dawns about who we are at the surface level and reaching the Ocean bed, the depths of knowingness and acceptance. Thank you so much for an amazing video, so freeing and insightful, I hope this video will assist many beings. Love, respect and honour💜💖🦋⭐️

You are a gift to us, to me. Thank you. I’ve been journaling for years but never the way you explained it. You articulate your messages with such ease and Grace. Recently I discovered through professional means, that mirror neurons like to through full- blown house parties in my head, heart and spirit. It’s a lot to process and endure, but I am learning everyday how to navigate the emotions. Sometimes it feels like a full on assault to my senses and emotions.. I felt so incredibly alone throughout this painful discovery, no one could understand. I didn’t even want to explain. None the less, through professional means and now your channel I am grateful for the strong intuition it has gifted me. There are no words to describe how much I am thankful for your presence here🌸

Nick, I came across your channel today and I am already inspired by the two videos I watched. I see how your teachings can/will transform lives. You speak so clearly and kindly and with such direct meaningful instructions/suggestions. I thank you very much. I hope I wont need a video from you teaching how to NOT binge watch. Your steps are very practical and I see how they will help in my transformation. I have tried gratitude journalling and sometimes when I go back and re-read the stuff feels artificial as if I just wrote things just to keep the practice going. I backed off a little. I also journal my thoughts, dreams and ideas, (in one journal) but not consistently. I will continue and apply your suggestions and be more intentional - not just write to not skip a day, but write with the intention of learning and growing from whatever parts of me get unmasked. Blessings to you and all your 'students'.

Every time I start a journal, it devolves into venting and I give up after a week or so because I either end up writing the same things over again, or just get tired of writing in general. Besides, my mind travels quicker than my hand can keep up and I've found myself leaving out entire words before. The shadow journal is rather amusing, simply because I have so little to think about that part of my attention turned inward...which began acting as a monitoring/observational system. I know I have anger and ego issues, for sure, and had jealousy issues with people in loving relationships...something I've never really had in all of my 44 years. In fact, I used to internally seethe at happy couples. I intensely hated them because they had what I didn't, and probably never will...even though I've been married and divorced three times. Of course, all three of those times happened before I was diagnosed with my mental disorder and put on medication. Ironic that now I'm calmed down and stable, no one wants me because the drugs made me shut down to the point that I'm too quiet, too boring and more withdrawn. Gotta love the drug companies and their almighty pharmaceuticals! Any road...after a while I stopped being jealous about their happiness, because they're not always happy and have their confrontations and arguments that no one sees. I'm sure part of that was just me giving up and crawling into my shell, but at least the anger and jealousy left. Now if only I could blunt my anger and ego.

"Meditation is not self-improvement. Do not enter it under any such delusions. There is no one to be improved. Meditation is a form of enjoyment. It's a way of digging the universe. So that the whole of the sensorium - that is to say everything seen, heard, tasted, touched, and smelled - becomes much clearer. And none of it, as you learn not to think about it, becomes much richer than it is when you think about it. And so everything starts to be more real, more alive, more glowing, and you suspend also judgments about things. And in doing this, you introduce yourself to a fascinating world." - Alan Watts

Venerable Nick 🙏🙏🙏. Which journal should i start with as I have a LOT of anger in me. Life and everything that’s going on makes the world such a hard place with unkind, selfish people and it’s so hard to find a sincere person who really wants to help without any expectation in return. Which journal should I start to write so i maybe be able to revert to my earlier happy cheerful soul, before I experienced life’s bitter truths - I just can’t seem to get out of this angry, sad world of mine. I don’t trust anyone anymore - and it’s such a lonely place. Which journal should focus on first? hope to receive your advice Venerable Nick🙏🙏🙏
@nickkeomahavong013 жыл бұрын
Wonderful. I'm glad you're able to recognize that in yourself. That's a big major step. The first one that may be helpful for you is the venting Journal. Keeping a daily diary or Journal so you can see your habits and patterns is very important, and alongside of that the shadow Journal to deal with anger and resentment would be helpful. I hope that helps :-) keep up the great work

The venting journal when I USED to do it just would make me more anxious. I don't know if anyone else can relate ? Sometimes i would be so angry and wound up I would want to tear up the journal itself ! Haha okay so that never happened lucky it got thrown a couple times though ! But I think there were a lot of factors at play. I lived alone beside my vay, I put pressure on myself every single day for not having done enough and because of where I lived i could never get the peace and quiet I so craved for . Basically I was at complete odds with ?Myself in every way possible I'm 32 I still journal now not daily because I'm not always in that head space z maybe I should start again but now having moved to a beautiful location and a house share which is nothing short of a dream come true of what I knew I so badly wanted and needed after 9 years of living solo and not having the mental capacity to handle myself I won't say I am all the way there but my self discipline and concentration and self control and going after projects that I want to do without being fearful is much higher than it used to be now which I take as a good sign. I'm still hard on myself and struggle with negativities and guilt etc but I feel I have the correct circumstances in place to help me :) I think when it comes to relationships with others and struggling to find balance between ourselves a journal would probably really help me there, who hasn't been there right? Haha That is probably the hardest thing Nick thankyou for this! Also o strongly recommend to everyone to check your environment and life situation first and foremost beforE you make changes Peace and love everybody

Wonderful job my friend. I'm glad you are in a better space and situation. Since that is the case, yes it would be a great time to pick up journaling again. The key for you will be to do it neutrally. It's simply to give you space to express yourself and see yourself neutrally. I think it will be a healthy coping outlet :-)

Hi Nick, as a person that struggles with anxiety I find it difficult to meditate. I like the idea of journaling. This may sound silly but what kind of journal would you suggest for someone with anxiety issues. Thankyou ♥️
@nickkeomahavong012 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be difficult in the beginning but just take it slow but do it daily. It's a habit that needs cultivation. Also you can journal about your patterns. Thoughts, feelings and actions regarding the anxiety.

I've tried journaling several times. It just seems like I'm writing down the nonsense that goes on inside my head vs. just listening to it. It is like I'm just reinforcing it by writing it down. Am I missing something?
@nickkeomahavong012 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you can, get clear on why you are journaling? Is it to get insight, to vent, etc.

How to deal with a depression? Medicine can help me?
@nickkeomahavong013 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I do not know your situation. however, you can try mindfulness practices, but also seeking a qualified counselor may be a great option as well. Again i would not be able to advise clearly as I do not know the context.

…actually, i find it very helpful to take notes throughout the day as I train to monitor myself & find clear & concise ways to express about thoughts, feelings, ideas, experiences, etc. > In my efforts to form the clear & concise ways to journal about very subtle experiences - I find it is helping me to create a more sophisticated mental construct - I am developing discernment & the ability to self reflect - as well as self adjucate w/o sliding into the part where i self recriminate. Whew! I made this progress in the last few months with intensive study & practice. > I am learning from Tich nih Han & you ✨🧡✨🧡✨🙏🏼……..🦙……. I have a good foundation, bc my father raised me in the tradition - even tho I am a girl child. He taught me all the ways of being & moving as if I were a student monk. .. He began my training as soon as I could walk. > I did not keep those trainings - bc I wanted to be an American girl - so I rebelled to the maximum - only to return again & again. > This time, I will push through & keep my promise to my father - to always do my best ! By the way, my dad always said . “ do your best, but know you can always do better.. Keep trying ! “ 🍊🍊🍊☺️☺️☺️

Dearest Nick; I came across your videos when I was severely struggling. YOU , and ONLY YOU helped me overcome most of my problem. Your words encouraged me to sail into the wisdom ocean of Buddhism. I am so very much in peace at the time being. Yes, YOU help me transform my life entirely. It’s true that things turned up to be different in a good way. I cherish my current life, yet am longing to live such a peaceful monastic life. Thank you Nick for your wise words.

Dear Maher. I feel the same, although I don’t think I am on the same level that you are my friend but Nick has changed my life. Watching the monks with daily activities has touched my life. I want to learn and change. I’m a Christian but I don’t feel I get what I need from the Church. I have a very unhealthy relationship with food and don’t use it for its intended purpose but I’ve made progress with the use of a journal. R u from the U.K.? Can you recommend any good starter books for me. I would like to learn about Buddhism. Thankyou x

@@marlenerichardson4429 Hello Marlene! Nick has a great book called “The Buddhist Cleanse” that I’ve learned a great deal from. The first book I read that taught me about Buddhism was “Radical Acceptance” by Dr. Tara Brach. I would also recommend anything by Lama Surya Das. I hope that helps. Wishing you happiness, health, safety, and peace 🙏🏻🤗
