Another cool tip is using melodyne to extract the midi from a certain sound. Or using the bass of a sample to find the root notes of the chords

I use Autotune to sing in a melody then i place the Autotune on it detached while i build the midi under it, because Autotune shows the note you are singing in real time!

I just use Melodine or RipX to work out how melodies are made. I can then export them as midi and I'm done with it in seconds. I might need to touch up some midi notes but it's super quick and precise.
